flatwater flip 701?

So this weekend i went out and tried my first flatwater flip and with NO flip experence beside one flip off a tug wake, i actually didnt come up as short as i thought.... dont get me wrong i tried about 3 or 4 times and didnt even come close to ridin away but im running a 701 with all bolt ons and a type 9 i have a wdk REV hull and x metal trim. I got the first one on vidoe and i noticed soo many things i can improve on so dont quote me on it but im pretty sure a 701 will flatwater flip..... so im wondering if anyone has done it? if so any vids?!? also let me know what you think i can work on to rotate faster, i know my pre hop needs to be wayy bigger

Yeah I was expecting a pure back flop. Do you have total loss? If not, I bet that would push you that last little bit.

Not bad.... that is my problem, I always use all my concentration about making the perfect setup wave (which I can never really time very well) and totally forget about hopping before hand.

take the ski to a point were your actually Not rotating much at all when you think about it...
what i learned from a loose grip (ghost rider backy) get the ski vertical off the wake you then have another 180 degree's to go to get the nose in

thanks guys! my current set up its a WDK Hull -2 im runnning a 701 with
ADA head
msd inhanser
flywheel and lightweight cupplers
x-metal trim
and a Type 9
The ski weight 268 ready to ride before the trim.

thanks for all the advice guys im thinkin some more work on timing my setup and getting the pre hop who know i may be able to nose one in someday...

I still vote to sell the lightweight flywheel and enhancer. Once you do, you'll have enough to buy a decent used total loss setup and you'll be nosing them in on the first day.

my motor is pretty worn has had a good two season of a ton of riding so im gunn bored to 83mm and port hopefully thatll help, but honestly now im kinda determained to do it with a 701..... i may have to look into total loss

okc ok
i nose them in on flat water allday with a 760 big bore from lpw on a stock hull with trim but it took 6 months of practice and 2 sets of motor mounts .

Yes it really does make that much of a difference. Do a few searches, there are tons of threads on it and tons of people that won't ride anything else. If you're a surf guy, it isn't as important but it makes a world of difference on flatwater. Worth every hour and dollar I've had to put into it.
