There has not been good surf for a month here...but I just had two of the best flat water days ever! High speed blasting through narrow sandy islands by my house, and practicing setup waves and stabs. Got completely addicted to hearing my motor screaming. All in super glassy 84deg water. I am normally a surf snob, but I have to admit with the right conditions flat can be fun.

I haven't been on the river in 2 months now. In fact, in the last two months I went riding only for one weekend at the Oregon coast.

I figured I'd see a bunch of boats out today to go chase.
The launch ramps were zoos.
People don't know how to back up a trailer.
They have absolutely no etiquette.
The water was choppy as hell.

I cruised for about an hour and left.

quit complaining Matt, it's 1000 miles to the "nearest surfable" coast from here, and the redneck-methheads that clog up the water here don't even know wtf a boat ramp is, let alone how to use one.

when I went to sebastian, and O-side, all the hell it did was make me want to move..lol. unfortunately, my current job and family situation doesn't permit me to do so, otherwise I would've bounced from this place a longass time ago. : )

You are going out on 4th of july weekend. Every dumb ass and his family is taking the boat out right now so of course it's going to be a zoo. Also, of course these people don't know how to back a trailer, they pull their boats for memorial day weekend and 4th of july weekend and that's it.

For me get to surf- two hours, get to river - 7 min. By the time I would get to surf I can ride two hours here chasing boats and jumping wakes, burn thru tank of gas and be back home. But time to time I do go ride surf.

It was better today.
No drunk jackasses, decent at the ramp, and no chop.

I cruised around for an hour. I saw two wakeboard boats doing v-wakes, but they were pulling a boarder and I didn't want to bug them.

lol a roll or flip on flat is lame in 5 min also. I really feel sorry for sj riders who dont live near the surf,its like you think sleding down the hill and walking back up in back of your house is fun till you go snowboarding on a mountain and riding the lift back up,lol. you will find that hill in your back yard almost useless afterwards.
and even better analogy,flat water = jerking off.... chasing boat wakes in flats = sex with a fat girl... surf riding= sex with a hot chic.in other words you never know what your missing starting from worst to best,but once you banged the hot chic there just is no going back..........................................and feeeling good about it lol

Meh, I'm happy on the river, it's all i need. I love going out every time so I'm sorta glad I haven't been in the surf to possibly ruin flat like it has apparently for some of you guys. Plus, I feel like I would do some damage to my ski out there.. No reinforcement, stock engine, etc.

the problem is not flat water, the problem is living out in BFE and/or on a ty lake where not much is going on. AKA i get board on weekdays, but on weekends its fun. Protip its the same water. just sayin

I think best time for flatwater is early in the morning or late in the afternoon >> avoid the breeze or chopy, we never use the ramp all the lakes almost allow to launch from the beach....I love flatwater

Went out again yesterday with riding buddies. Boring again and I left too early.
Shortly after I left, my friend Mike got himself involved in a near fist fight with a boater at the ramp.

You just aint got no skilz. Flat water does not envolve double up Boat Wake back flips, those down count............ Wussy! You got to be able to do them with your own power and setup
