footstrap insert option

i am so confused on how taylor uses those. anyone know the right method to install them? they look like they would go deep into the pump caavity:banghead::banghead:

For the front one u just route out a channel and glass it in. The tray above the pump cavity is too thin so u route a channel through the tray and then set the insert in then build it up filler then glass it. With the 24mm padding it just about comes up flush. Maybe Taylor will post a pic if he has one.

Basically just think of the insert sticking up out of the tray and then u cove it with filler so u have a nice smooth transition from the tray to the top of the insert. I need to replace my straps and underpadding. When I do I'll use those mounts. Mine are just screwed into the tray right now. It's lasted for 3 years like that but I'm afraid if I take the screws out they won't hold when I put em back in.

getting ready to re-strap (REAR only) and turf...

A. Northshore - Spendy and still requires glass (talked to local windsurf shop and they stopped carrying them)

B. McMaster - Cheap, requires glassing, negatives?

C. TCs Inserts - Cheap, adjustable, requires most work?

I am leaning towards the McMaster nuts and installing a couple sets for some adjustability.

I'd personally stay away from option C. Your intention is to stay in the footholds but if you slip out or when you kick a knee in the tray, you could hit those huge pieces of plastic bulging out of the tray.

Go to post 248 and in my build thread to see what I did. It was cheap and very effective. You could add more clinch nuts to the plates to make it more adjustable.

Your missing the point. These are set into the tray then your Hydro Turf underpadding goes around these inserts. Finish product the insert is at least and inch below Hydro Turf. They are not dangerous in any way or I would not use this method.

what about taking a piece of scrap metal 1/8'' or so thin in the size you want it, drill a hole through it, stick a tee nut through the hole, and maybe jb weld the base of the tee nut to the metal? just my though to save even a little more coin for something you wont see after its turfed over.
