For all you OCTANE riders

The key is, some of you guys are talking surf riding. I think this guy is riding flat water.
Big Kahuna is right, the hook up on that pump is REALLY good and that alone is probably part of the reason it doesn't like to come out of the water. It was designed to stay hooked up.
I raced an octane for a season and couldn't make that think come out of the water if I wanted to. However, I didn't want it too because I was racing it.
I would think cutting the rideplate straight across would give you a little more lift.

Like everyone is saying, it's all going to come down to personal preference and the type of riding you do.

I don't ride an Octane, but with my SJ, for now I'm riding with the stock ride plate because I didn't like the extra long Worx Dominator ride plate. I had a really hard time getting good height when trying to jump around on flat water. After putting the stock ride plate that's a good 3" shorter, I could immediately notice a difference that made it easier to jump higher.

With the long Worx plate, it drove the nose of the boat really hard into the water when riding along. This was good for carving around or for heavier riders. But in our freshwater "surf" (5 or 6 foot lake waves). I found I was always burying the nose under the water when riding in to shore with the waves. No matter how hard I tried the nose would always stuff itself into a submarine.

For now I'm preferring the shorter stock ride plate for the type of riding that I do, which is 100% lake riding. It tends to really lighten up the bow of the boat in comparison to the Worx plate that's on my shelf for the time being.

For the Octane I don't think I'd take a drastic measure of cutting the ride plate because you can't go back if you don't like it.

think you should do the SJ conversion kit. its like a two part easy fix to your problem.
1-swap hull for SJ hull
2-8mil stroker

if you cant get that out of the water...perhaps a shorter ride plate is in order

That Dominator is one of the most aggressive plates, but it was designed for the race course. I tried one when I was racing the SJ, too much for me. I ended up cutting it really short, it is great cut. May want to try it!

When you say shorten you mean grind it myself?
