You may not need it. It is showing 575 out of 1000 open spots. But it is always a good idea in the summer!!!! I got stuck with a fat ticket last year. $480, I learned my lesson.

plane tickets are cheap now...you can borrow a ski...

No, it's not against the law to throw a tent. You just need to pay a $10.00/per night and you can camp anywhere after the first mile marker.

I went on friday for my first time, man the waves were relentless. The camping area at Oceno state beach were totally full. We did find a couple spots to camp a block away so it was cool. I'd like to try it when the conditions are better, maybe this weekend.
