I just picked up the Bellistic from Amazon.com for 38 bucks...and free shipping. I had tried on the Bell helmet at Wally world and it was just too small for my melon.

can anybody tell me if these bmx helmets use the open or closed cell foam ? do they get much heavier when they get wet ?

I can only speak for the bellistic- its closed foam, like a kids bike helmet. It has some like felt like padding thats real thin which absorbs some water, but it absorbs minimal amounts and keeps you cool. The weight differnce between wet and dry basically unoticable, unlike the mx helmets.

Here's the Giro Flint helmet. I got mine for $39 shipped off of ebay. Mine's all black. I should be testing it out this week. I like the removable face guard and it still looks good with it all taken off.

I use a Bell Ballistic helmet for a full face and protec ace wake for an open face helmet.

Kind of an old thread but I figured I would update, I picked up one of those Bell's kids XL helmets from Wally World. I got a small(ish) head and no hair so it fits good. $38otd, nice and light and looks pretty good.
