Freeride on MTV

They usually do stupid ( potentially dangerous) stuff on the show. Some might interpret this as normal for our sport. Then you get people that try to re-enact everything they see.... you get the idea. But besides that i'll be watching.

Ohhh, I gotcha! Haha!

I agree. Standups would be better portrayed on The Knitting Hour with Franny Goldberg or The Golden Girls.

Sorry to speak my mind here, but as entertaining as it may be, this particular sport has had its share of trouble surviving since I got involved in the mid 80's, and anything that shows reckless boating is a nail in our coffin. Lets leave the craziness to the hurt bikes.........now with that said, bring on the freestyle/freeride.:woot::brap:

im not one to argue on here but i think this is the publicity this needs. As much as wreckless boating is BAD... this is not. Its not like they are getting all liquired up, and ripping through a marina shooting roman candles at each other. They are going out there and doing what every one wants to do at some point (i think).... Is backflip. I wouldent say its wreckless. When you practice you beef... these guys are doing what we try just trying to learn a couple years of jetskiing in a couple of minuites.

Sorry in advance to all on the x for spelling and punctuation errors

So you dont think that Taylor C, Oside Crew,Ross C, Pierre M, Eddie, Matt S and JFB will not represent our sport in a positive manner? Then who will? Flat water guys certainly will not!!
We leave the stupid antics to the NC crew. The reason why stand ups popularity decreased in the early 90's was due to the fat man on the sit down. We need all the press we can get!!!!!!! The reason why moto x freestyle is so popular is because they push them selves and are not afraid of the opinions of others.

Thanks man! I wish i could do half what some of these guys are doing now.
Cant wait to watch sunday!

Any idea how long the segment is supposed to be?

Jared,

I think this is great for our sport! And the guys you picked to ride are all great riders and people, They represent the sport very well and have been doing this for a while and i think it is great what you guys are doing and one day i hope to be apart of it.

Chris

Just for the record i wasnt saying this episode WILL be bad publicity. I think its great we made it onto nitrocircus. I'm tired of watching bikes flip. Im sure it will be represented accordingly with people like Curtis, Ross, Pierre there to show whats up.

i have seen the show....i still have not tried to bf a bigwheel:shhh:

for people sayin that the recklessness will portray the sport in a bad way, look what the crusty demons did for dirt bikes. a ton of mx'ers say that helped shape fmx to what it is today. sure it pi$$ed alot of people off but in the long run it helped.

we dont need old people to be big fans of our sport, we need younger kids for the next generation. and jackass type stuff is what i, and other kids my age enjoy watching. :bigok:

I have been waiting for a long time to see this sport get this kind of publicity and to see people push themselves to charge faster and go bigger and make attempts on tricks that seem like they can't be done! For all the people that don't agree with this being great publicity for this sport, in my opinion i think you should rethink that and look at how fast nitro circus became one of the most bad ass shows out there!

well, we hope anyway lol...

Personally, I think its a good thing, irregardless of how you feel about jackass-edness or tomfoolery, any coverage of the sport that does not include the words "felony, sheriff, death, or minor" can do nothing but help grow it.

Look at it like this...exposure like this gets more people to purchase skis (and alot of people start off with used skis, I wonder where they might get a used ski around here...oh yeah, X board members!). Now, as more people start to ride, companies like Blowsion get more business, expand into multi national conglomerates, and all of the sudden parts are manufactered for pennies on the dollar, making the sport cheaper for everyone but sustainable for the businesses that have slogged through it from the beginning.

New skis sales rise, membership in groups like the AWA increases (giving every rider a stronger voice in the world)...everything is gravy. I think you guys get the point I am trying to make...

Now...after all of that can anyone really say that having mainstream exposure for the sport is a negative rather than a positive?

It is jet ski trickle down economics, and the benefits are something that everyone will notice over the long term...and my scrabble score should be through the roof now lol...
