freeride ski engines, help pick one out

Looking to some day save up and purchase some REAL power to put into eventually a Ricker (or similar hull)

For all you freeride nuts on here, what would you recommend for engines, I'm 185 lbs and i'd be temporarily sticking the engine in a 2012 superjet until i can afford a nasty stunt hull. lol.

I would love to go simi balls out here in the cc size , but stay in the best bang for buck territory (witch hardy exists in the boat world)

What would you recommend? I hear the TPE 1105's are very impressive. but i just don't know where to start!

Love you all thanks!!!

I can't really help answer this question, but some more information will help those that can.

What hull you are riding. What motor is in it. What parts are on that motor and if any work has been done to it. The kind of riding you do now and the kind of riding you hope to do.

I am speculating, but based on the threads like this I have read, people are likely going to tell you to buy the hull first if you already have an otherwise good setup. I think people are throwing down flatwater backies with the right hull and a high T-score using the @JetManiac 771BB.

well currently I have a 2012 superjet and it's 100% stock with the exception on a d cut plate and steering mod.
I would love to eventually be doing tricks via flatwater, rolls flips you name it, the thing is, if I buy a rickter or a bob hull I think the all stock 701 will still feel on the edge of under powered, so instead of sinking huge cash into all the 701 mods, I would rather just do it right with a (fatty) engine with torque that will pull my arms off.

If I can temprarly squeeze the (new) engine into my SJ for a little fun while i save up to get a hull then that would make my day.

I guess all i'm saying is that I think (personal opinion) I will have more fun with a swapped new SJ VS a all stock 701 sitting in a rickter hull.

If you guys think otherwise i'd love to hear all of your opinions because i'm a a cross roads on hull or engine first,

As far as Hulls go, it does not need to be a ricker by name, I just use it as example. So what other (better bang for the buck) hulls can i find for freestyle tricks?

Why buy a 771 when he can buy a 950-1100 and then he won't have the shouldaboughtabiggermotor syndrome in the future?

A b-pipe and high compression head with good tuning will be night and day over your stocker.

Buy a new b-pipe and a used Ada head, keep the stock parts. It will cost about $1200 and will resale for about $1000. That's a good investment.

Well, a jmbb is less than $2000 and a 1100 is what, $4-5k? That's like saying why buy a bob so you don't have shouldaboughtaDVXfortwiceasmuch. Nothing against either builder, they are both good, but I myself could only afford one of the 2.

Could get a 771 and a hull and be in heaven for the same price as just a motor. I'm not a buy an F350 dually when I need a f150 kind of guy. I myself have no need for an 1100 anytime in the near future. Going to big too soon is a good setup for injury.

Edit: I wasn't actually trying to say he should buy a 771bb. What I was trying to say is maybe he should start with the rickter he wants instead of the motor he might not be able to fully use.

Freeride? Just ride your ski. I'm assuming surf when you say freeride. Bpipe and head like mentioned above you'll be surprised how much fun you can have in the surf with those mods, assuming surf again.

haha you guys make me smile! i really appreciate the responses, well lets get started.

#1 where i ride,

I live in poulsbo Washington on liberty bay, Here it's sadly salt water in about a half mile each direction (picture a lake with no real surf, just tides and salt water, I do get a few 30-50 foot Yachts that roll through here with enough wake to maybe pull a b-roll, but again its just occasional. I live about 3 hrs away from any surf and honestly i would be supprised if i EVER made it out to the surf.

#2 what I want to do

Again I am about 180 lbs but a tall ass 6'4" guy, Skinny as poop lol. the kind of riding I do now is just dick'n around on the new superjet trying to find new interesting tricks/subs/stabs/maneuvers/even drifting it around a bit kind of shenanigans, but in my head I'm practicing everyday the proper set up wakes and such, just dreaming of being on a short hull that can flip my tall @$$ upside down :D

#3 What I think it would take (if I am wrong on what it takes please fill me in!)

I have always had a thing for going B@lls out on my toys lol, although no i'm not loaded and honestly cant just throw money away, I spent 6 years riding sport bikes and but it also took me 6 years to save up and buy my dream bike (ducati hyper) that bike always made me smile from ear to ear as it had more torque than I know what to do with and i'd just wheelie it all day every day
anyways back on topic, I moved from riding motorcycles to jet skiing mostly for the freedom I feel on the water.
So I just need help figuring out how not to waste my money, but avoid having regret if I got somthing that just couldn't *Cough superjet Cough* (naw it's tons of fun still haha)
if you guys say my new ski's 701 will throw a backie (obviously with skill and a set up wake) than well poop lets get this party started with a hull.

Just stop dreaming. $5000 is for JUST the tpe engine. Then add in a PFP exhaust ($1500) total loss ignition ($1200) 49mm carbs($1500) mag pump($1000+) and the list keeps going. A Rickter can flip with a 701 and a b-pipe. Buy the hull, pole, and pipe. Best money spent.
First off. This guy is back from the grave. And he's speaking facts. Listen to him!^^ also check out other hulls. Not just a rickter.
