Right. I suppose it's easy not to get VD also - just don't #uc<. Or to avoid a hangover - just don't drink. Or to never get in a car wreck - just don't drive or ride in a car. Really though, Um, I haven't decided to limit myself by fear of Mexico or Canada yet so . . . anybody got anything else?

Silly question here. How do you register a trailer in state that doesn't require it for trailers under X length. In Kansas trailers have to be X long before you register them or get paperwork/title/tags. This was an issue that cost me some $ in Mexico . . . I said "Registration isn't required in Kansas. (in spanish) He said "You're not in Kansas." $150 later we we were on the road.

just go into the secretary of state and tell them you want to register a "homemade" trailer. you will need to have it weighed somewhere first. if you have a local stone quarry nearby they might do it free of charge. so after you give them proof of weight they will give you a paper that you will need to fillout. Just write the lenth, width, type of materials(steel, aluminum, ect.) just say you used scrap metal from home. and a brief description of how you made it.

and its just that easy. at least thats how you would go about that in michigan. but then again here we need to register ALL trailers. being a small trailer it should not be more than $50(just a guess). hope this helps.

You're welcome

If your State doesn't require a plate on it, then you can drive it around in Michigan all you want w/o a plate. Or are you looking to buy a plate just to have one?

FYI the normal procedure takes several months to get a passport. - anybody who might ever want to travel ought to just do it so you arent sweating it out or paying $$ for expidited service when you decied to take a trip.

Also I'd assume the canadians want a real origianal state issued birth certificate. (Not the paper from the hospital)

I just came back from canada. Took the ski with me and had absolutely no trouble. They did not even ask to see me regestration on it. A piece of cake. Wife and I showed our ID and the kids had their birth certificates.

Yes.

Each person will need their original birth certificate-NO COPIES! (just ask Gainera2582 about that :cool2: )

Also each person will need their drivers licence, and if they arent old enough some other form of ID.

If your bringing a ski across make sure you have the registration for the ski, and the registration for the trailer with you and ready to show.

If you're under 18 and not with parents, it's a good idea to have a note from your parents saying where you are going and when you will be returning. Although I never had a problem with that.

Have all that stuff ready to show when you get to the border. If you go earlier on Saturday Morning, chances are you will get across in no time, without even a line to wait in. Coming across in the evening will be a different story though...

Sterling on Thursday

Big Waves out by the hotspot (hothole) Thursday. This is acually Sterling State Park, but check out the size of those rolls, Rosie is only about 30 feet offshore in this picture. Check out the fermi nuke plant in the background. We had to do something with the Tropical storm forcing the city to cancel the event in Florida.

has anyone considered camping? Sterling state park is just up the beach from the hot hole and you can get some sites right on the water. you can even beach your skis, I was there earlier this summer and it was a pretty nice place.
