Super Jet Fresh rebuilt motor falling on its face

Hey guys I just had my motor rebuilt by Art at Jetworks and during the break in process I get about 10-15 minutes into riding and the ski really starts to run like crap. I come out of a turn and get on it about 3/4 throttle and then it just starts sputtering and dying but as long as I feather the throttle it seems to come back to life.

I took the high speed needle out 1/4 turn and still nothing. Have any other suggestions? I have changed the plugs 4 time throughout 2 tanks. I will post pictures of the plugs after coming in full throttle for a second.

Put a new coil in and same thing happening. I checked my check valve and I can suck air through it and blow through it. I tried someonelses check valve before I left the lake and it continued to do the same thing.

Could there be water in my gas that is causing this?

Rebuilt carbs can still have small particles of dirt inside that blocks the jets. Ask me how I know this.....

So after feathering it for say 15-30 seconds does it start to run "normal". Have you pulled the tank, remove all but a quart of fuel, dump the remaining fuel in a jar and let it "settle" for say a half hour. If there is water you'll see it in the bottom of the jar. Hopefully that's it and you can chase that problem down. It does sound like water is a possibility.

@tightithrash I have called art he said it's either my stator or my coil. But this motor ran just fine before he rebuilt it. I changed the coil and it still did it so I checked my one way valve and it's toast. This last weekend I was running it and it was running great. Did one nose stab and completely submerged the ski and it started running like crap a minute later then for the rest of the day it would do the same thing. I would bring it in let it sit for 5-10 min go back out run it and then it would start cutting out after 5 minutes of riding or so.

All these responses are fine, but talking with Art is paramount and then work systematically ruling out one piece at a time. Fuel, lines, filters and check valves are easy 1,2,3. Then move on to electrical...Plugs, coil, stator, and Cdi. No change after that...check compression, if fine then move on to carbs and recheck the rebuild on them. Gotta work like a doctor and rule out what it's not till u find something amiss.

Art is a guru so don't discount what he's telling u. His advice comes from experience.

Ran poorly after submersion, either stator got wet and acting up or that was a good time for water to get into tank. Has cap (I assume is plastic) been cleared of any cracks, gasket good etc. Check fuel in tank, easy to eliminate that as a potential problem and move forward. You've already addressed possible electrical gremlins from what I read above. Check the simple stuff, often overlooked. Good luck

Have you tested the components? When you say "stator plate" are you referring to the electrical components or the mounting plate, which would be odd. Sounds like a dumb question, but Art has a lot of info and may know some stuff about the mounting others don't. I thought you had tested stator components but after rereading I see you had not. A "warmed" up stator definitely can work differently than a cold one when components are faulty. Sounds like one or the other, water in fuel or faulty electrical components. Good luck man and let us know the outcome.
