i can't stand the sound/noise from fl-cracker's ski. it irritates me.

These vids were taken the same day in July this year:

My ski

notice in my vid, i'm much closer to the camera than cracker is and my boat is much quieter... and .....you can still hear *his* ski in the background over mine every once in a while.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
ok... so no benefit for tailstands or recovering from landing hard on the tail????

Does front exhaust help to clear the waterbox if there is large pressure on the rear of the ski from being almost vertical in the water??? <-- have no idea... just a thought

I'd be careful with majority opinions. If you actually knew the people commenting and the real value of their opinions that might not be a bad way to go, but you don't. Not knocking anyone on this or any other thread, but most of the guys with the really serious boats/motors don't have a lot to say on technical discussions. I'm also not saying I'm one of those guys, but look and you'll see what I mean. Actual knowledge is usually(not always) inversely proportional to post count.

You speakith the truth. I was shocked last year at Daytona when I saw a few people ride. Their could talk the talk but not exactly walk the walk! I'm not trying to take away anything from a LOT of people here that are awesome riders and have great knowlege though. I love this place.

Regarding, front side exh.......I wouldn't do it. Freestyle geek had front and rear exh. on his last boat. I hated it! His new boat is side rear exh. and that is fine. I would consider doing that on my next one.
I just finished my build and I left mine stock.
I don't know if it's just me, but I notice a lot more tail stand cavitation with my round nose than I ever did with my square nose. The sn has a smaller exh. outlet and it's farther away from the pump. Maybe that is a factor.

i cant see the point of doing it other than footholds or tail stalls
ihave foot holds and a rear exhaust and while i dont mind doing a tail stall if you wind it up it clears the pump nicely

I like the front only setup. I saved a bunch of weight by removing the rear setup, I actually had a dual setup and ditch that. I've got any SXR with front only and a TDR power spray water box, it's not annoying at all and I've ridden' some really annoying skis, its got a 2.5" outlet too...

Front will always be louder than duel or stock. Tailstands better with front, lighter set up than rear. Your motor combo , water box , reeds and pipe will also effect pitch of the sound. I run a 2 3/8 front only with water injected and a stock box . FYI

Lots of good feedback but still never any diffinitive answer - I guess my biggest thing is - Is there potential to cause engine damage doing a tail stand with rear exhaust? Cavitation etc aside...the build up of exhaust gases has to effect something?

no, the exhaust still gets pushed out the back even when you do a tail stand.

NO! Question answered.

I am surprised nobody has said this... The problem I have found with my front/rear exhaust is if you take a break and float around for awhile, the water fills up your water box completely and makes it difficult to start your engine. It especially sucks if you have total loss with a battery going weak. Just my .02 cents

Rixter and D Slicker: How is the rear side exhaust at idle, and/or at slower speeds? Seems like there would be a lot of water restriction at lower speeds. I really like the look of that, was it a noticable diff from rear exhaust? Would you do it again? seems like a bigger project.

No water restrictions at slower speeds that I could notice, and the ski is very quiet!:bigok:

I could do a tilstand all day and there was absolutely not cavitation, so I would highly recommend this modification for all those that want the effects of a front/rear exhaust combination, without the noise.

My exhaust line goes up so water can not fill the box while sitting.
