Fundamental differences between entry level (or any for that matter) A/M hulls.

I think I've reached the ends of the internet in search for as much info on more entry level A/M hulls and I'm still not finding what I'm looking for. Has anyone seen a thread about the fundamental differences between ANY hulls?

I understand the differences in the material that is used, that is a given. But I would love to see some discussion from people who have ridden these different a/m hulls. I'm personally looking for info on cheaper a/m hulls. Just from what's been for sale lately I would include Bob gens, stunt, x-jet, backie chans.. Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places, any help on this would be appreciated.

There's got to be some A/M hulls riding around Austin, right? Go to a local ride spot and talk to the guys riding them.

It's a good time to get into freestyle, so many good choices. Don't forget to take a look at the Aquabot.

I know you said you did a bunch of internet research. Was most of that just on google? Have you had a chance to browse through the "custom" section on here? each hull has its own thread with tons of disctussins. I have probably read 30 of these threads so far, with plenty left to read. Most will tell you generally how each hull rides and most people list the setup they rode with. It has been very helpful for me. Also, describe on here the type of riding you want to be doing and most guys can point you in a direction of several hulls that would best suit your needs. But like mentioned before, ultimately people will advise riding one before you ever make a purchase. My only advice since i havent bought one, read the sellers negative feedback section before you put a deposit on any hulls. It may steer you away from one of your desired brands you mentioned. http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?forums/custom-hybrid-aftermarket.132/

on my bob there were holes drilled in wrong place and left , hood doesn't fit and is warped , major cracks (not just in paint )in nose , hood , pole area, both sides , and bond line , ski clinic don't want to know , said it my fault as i a beginner … so i guess its a freestyle hull that doesn't last unless u land on ride plate every time , first cracks appeared after 7th ride …save a bit longer and get a hull that will take bait of punishment ,and not off companies that don't stand behind their products .

You definitely had a bob built by the guy who got fired then helped Trendsetterz start building crackie chans. Quality control sucked there while that crack pipe was working. My hurricane and buddie's flatwater layup bob both look brand new after hundreds of failed flips and rolls. Including attempts off countless v wakes.

You're gonna hear plenty of guys bashing every hull out there while 'fanboying' others. Welcome to the forums. But really at the end of the day what's important about the Ski Clinic is that everything they have been doing and built over the last two+ years has been bulletproof and they stand behind their product 110%. I promise you if you just give them a call and just talk to them you'd agree. Form your own opinion.

Good luck finding measurements or tech info on anything ski related. MFGs dont provide any and customers simply dont ask. You end up with internet forums full of customers that are either happy or unhappy with their purchase for whatever reason.

The two bob hulls I have been around were both broken and repaired. One had a hood lni er was separating from the hood after a couple weeks and the other repaired his gen 1 bottom with carbon to strengthen it. bothwere nicer than my square so I cant complain but those are the only two hulls I have ever ridden also that are a/m. There are more bob hulls out there too so more people have had a chance to have good and bad experiences with them. But reading thru the neg feedback section will show you who you can and cant deal with not to name anyone in particular. Im looking for a hull this year hopefully but not until I have ridden everything Ican get my hands on .

mine was a bob g3 , bought last nov/dec , i might put up some pics of the cracks and you can make your own minds up if thats acceptable for am freestyle hull !

Don't want to bash the ski clinic. But I have to say I'm on your side here. For them to say F off you rode your ski to hard is kinda a joke. You clearly bought a Bob hull to abuse it a tempting back flips such. I would like to see some pictures please post them.

I don't hear any usefull info regarding the original topic ,Total de rail .all I'm hearing is chatter About one guy's bad experience with his first attemp at doing freestyle with his a/m hull .totally out of context , who knows how the complaining party rides or treats his equipment ?point being How well you treat your lightweight equipment and skill level defiantly will determine a hulls life span . flogging a ski to death will result in just that .

Though I agree with the derail, and I'm adding to it, there are a lot of lightweight hulls that stay together. A lower priced/quality hull might need to be cared for differently than higher one.

Wander , I agree price point is relavent . Also skill level plays a part . Most hulls are not squid proof .
