Here's a couple of pics to show how to line up the pump for mounting. In the first pic, you use a straight edge to check the pump height at the pump shoe. It should be less than 1/8" below the surface of the hull (ref the red line in first pic)
Once you've established the height of the pump shoe, you need to check the height of the rear of the pump. When the pump is at the correct position, the tip of the pump cone will be 3.5" from the flat portion of the hull just below it (as shown in pic 2). This is where you want the pump to suit when mounted for proper driveline alignment. And obviously, centered from side to side.
