FX-1 FX-1 pump.. 144mm or kawi 650?

Here's a couple of pics to show how to line up the pump for mounting. In the first pic, you use a straight edge to check the pump height at the pump shoe. It should be less than 1/8" below the surface of the hull (ref the red line in first pic)

Once you've established the height of the pump shoe, you need to check the height of the rear of the pump. When the pump is at the correct position, the tip of the pump cone will be 3.5" from the flat portion of the hull just below it (as shown in pic 2). This is where you want the pump to suit when mounted for proper driveline alignment. And obviously, centered from side to side.

specialfx, i just put the 46mm wetjet setup on my fx1.
mike at northwet set it up with 120-150 jets, 2.0 n/s, a 95 spring at 18lbs pop off.
sound about right ???
i have no idea on the adjustment screws ???
i dont have a b pipe header or chamber yet, but i did put the 61x b pipe exhaust manifold on with a kawasaki 650sx stock pipe.
you may of seen my post on the exhaust install.
i did look that other post over on modding the stock 650 kawasaki pipe too.

once my motor-pipe are done and dialed in, the 650 pump is next in line !!!

good luck

i'm just wondering why guys aren't using a 750 pump. glue the pump shoe in and no more hassling with sealing the pump to the hull when your changing a prop.

i pried my shoe out on sunday (fx1) and i'm going to start grinding. if you go to 144 it looks like you'd come thru the shoe slightly at the top.

Update, I went with the 650 pump. It rocks. Wasn't that hard to install, i bought the bearing stuff from Special fx, and 900zxi shaft from a guy on pwc.

100 times better then stock, and will be even better when i get my cutback sxr prop.

Hey harcore. what am I missing to complete the 650 conversion?

I have x2 nozzel
650 pump with impellor
zxi 900 kawi shaft

i have no bearings yet. special has them or you sent him parts to change over?

necesary to buy some glass stuff? i have no experience with glass work? What is necessary?

How much time for the conversion?

can i reuse the fx1 inserts or just screw into the hull to mount the 650 pump? I'm guessing the inserts must have glass to keep them in?? I'm clueless on that part.

I can't wait to try it out. I bought a superjet so I'll still be able to ski while working on it. I miss the fx while useing the superjet though. It carves better on smooth water. It also has smoother throttle response. the superjet has a low power spot in the beginning of the throttle. It effects how I can carve since the power is necessary to pull out of carves (leaning).
