The M10 bolts Yamaha uses are 1.25 pitch, which is unusual.
But the smaller bolts have standard pitches.

went to home depot and picked up some nuts and looked for some smaller bolts of the same size but the step smaller length was threaded all the way up. Well I got the two bolts cut and in. Had to grind down my wrench to tighten those middle two bolts. How tight do you guys go on those two? I torqued the rest back to 13 ft*lb's, the middle two I just went pretty tight but not too forceful.

I'm not sure yet, probably close the bottom and middle.. keep the top open 3/4 maybe. Adjust from there I guess. I'm looking for good bottom end hit, maybe some mid range but I gotta see how throttle response varies with different pipe settings

Thanks Cattledog, perfect.

Well you can buy alternate bolts and do it that way but the instructions say to tap four 5mm holes that the steering base screws into. you then put the turn plate on that and then screw the turn plate down using the stock turn plate bolts

tapping is the best way... you would get movement if you bolted the thing with nuts, i have seen some people tap and on some a/m poles the bolts stick through.. then add nylocs

Thanks cattledog

So the two center bolts for the b pipe manifold are too long. Anyone have any tips to shorten these? I don't have any nuts to put on the bolts so I can rethread the end of the bolt after I cut it. Is it difficult to file these bolts to get the threading back?

your talking about manifold to cylinder right?

you bought the pipe new from factory pipe.. they should have sent the right bolts....

best place i have found for bolts in a rush, in stainless is lowes

if you go to brofasco and ask them what they have, hex head in stainless, metric.. they will show you .. then when you say you just need too.. they will give them to you as samples

On your water screws on the headpipe, most run the bottom and middle closed and the top open about a 1/4 turn to start. That's only an average for bottom end hit though. Your top screw may need further adjustment to get it dialed in. I can't remember the temp mine was running just past the coupler on the exp chamber, but basically if you get water to sizzle for the first couple inches of the exp chamber I think you are pretty close. Hopefully others will chime in on this. Mine is very happy with this setup for bottom end hit.

So got it all done other then hooking up the final water lines and electrical for the bilges. Ended up turfing over the dash too which came out really well. (don't mind the mess in the engine compartment, not everything is hooked up)

Haven't fired her up yet, but I'm not too worried. Now she's back to storage until spring :(

Not sure if you can, but in pic 1 of post 53, you might be able to go back in the eng compartment and shorten up some hoses, tubing and wires. And get them tied off solid, so they don't move around a lot and cause chafing. It's a bummer when something rubs through and leaks, or shorts out. Just my .02

FP looks sexy!

Don't have everything hooked up yet, just got the motor back in, hooked up most of the fuel, haven't put together my bilge mess which is most of those wires all over the place. So it's a bit of a mess. I will be cleaning up the hoses and wires when I get it ready for riding.

Thanks for the input man.

And yah, spring couldn't come quick enough now haha
