If you are talking about my comments let me be clear I am impressed by anyone who can ride the 1st generation bob flat water freestyle or in the surf for it is the poorest handling ski I have ever ridden. The ski clinic should be applauded for building a ski and then improving on it they are in the game. The Bob gen ! is an outcast in the surf and can't by design do some of the simple slides and float climbs I can do on my old 1990 superjet and anyone is capable of doing these given the time to practice. The engine for that ski in the video your talking about has moved on to another ski. That bob hull is badly broken in the front and split down the bond rail so now it can be a planter box.

Why all the hate man? We never sold it as a surf hull, and didn't promote it as a surf hull. It was meant as a very affordable option for guys that want to flat water flip and don't have the stacks of cash to drop on some toys. Some surf guys happened to have purchased one, and didn't like it in the ocean, oh well, our feelings aren't hurt. We went ahead and improved on it and made it better, which is why the Gen1 has been out of production for about 2 years now, we realized that it isn't the ideal product for the market. Why can't we all just get along and go ride :brap:

this was totally my thinking also ,seems to me no is forcing anyone to ride anything. if you tried one and it wasn't for you ,cool ,move on.but i think most people are looking ahead at the progression the sport is making from riding these different hulls (most of them going shorter, even in the surf). if you don't want to be a part of whats going down, no one is forcing anyone .it is a only option and started out as a thread of someone enjoying their own experience .if you are content riding your current ride, so be it. i would even be wasting my time commenting if i didn't have to work today,i would be riding instead .thats where its really at....

Good luck with the success of the 3 Ride. An am hull jumped out the back of the wave seems to qualify it as a good surf riding ski. I can't jump on that bandwagon.

I surfed for most of my youth ,there was always those guys in the water who didn't want to give up their long boards for a thruster this seems like a similar argument.i don't understand, its just an option.

I still surf and just picked a 10'6" and will paddle into any lineup and dominate.

The ski clinic is Pushing this sport forward and constantly improving on their products. Its is called the Evolution of a brand.

So your beat 1990 sn sj is meant to give you some credibility when talking smack about one of the biggest American Builders.

DK where you riding this weekend ??? I wanna ride the 3ride.

Coming to the delta this weekend.

haha obviously you havent seen curtis ride...

im pretty sure he is in the same boat as me...watching the sport take 10 steps backwards from what it was 15 years ago while people think that its "progressing" is hard to watch..

90% of the tricks that people are doing now were being done in 1999 except back then "pros" actually knew how to surfride and had excellent ski handling skills not to mention style....

back in the 90s pros were traveling around in factory semis and box vans and getting paid actual money to ride jetskis..not so much anymore..even if the $ from the factories was there, there is only about 2 people that actually have the skills to even be worthy..

watch the videos from surfslam..except for one or two guys its pretty much the most boring thing to watch ever...except for the 6seconds of the 5min heat when they are in the air everybody looks like a bunch of amatures out there...its pitiful..watch one of the old vids from the dos equis motosurf comps they had 10 years ago...guys were ripping

watch some of the old videos..... if you think the "sport" is anywhere near the level it was back then your crazy...

what has all this "progression" given us? guys are taking a hand and foot off the bars when they flip instead of just their hand?? big deal...

Cool video TVF I like the over the shoulder look on the flips, sorry for the hijacking.
Not looking for a pissing match with haters or rippers, we all have opinions.

Who gives a :):):):)?

A couple thoughts...

A. Curtis (ridethelip) IS the man. One of the nicest guys and best riders I have ever met. Probably been riding for 20 years??? (please don't disrespect others on here before you meet them. Most of the riders on here are cool as hell...this goes both ways)

B. Surf riding has taken a back seat to aerials lately....(although there definitely is new stuff going on up there!) TC, ZB and PM for sure...

C. I agree that I would like to see people become better riders before they are immediately trying to buy giant motor/small hulls and pull backys.

D. The B.O.B.s, Rickters, Roks, Visions, Rages, Stunts, Freaks, Matrixes, FRockets, EVOs, KDXs, D.E.s and other skis are NEEDED in this sport. I personally, do not want one, (as of yet), but most riders do not live on the West Coast. People riding inland lakes and rivers, or even the Great Lakes most days, need something they can play on and throw around in 2 foot chop and on crappy waves that have no power behind them. HOWEVER.....If I lived on the West Coast, I wouldn't even contemplate getting anything more than a SJ or lightweight SXR with a stock motor and pipe (oh wait, that's what I have).

E. The West Coasters really have it made living so close to such amazing surf. I would love to hang out and ride amazing perfect surf with TC, Curtis, Laine, Wydopen and the Oside crew everyday, but that's just not an option for me or most other riders. It is difficult to become a good surf rider when you only ride decent waves 8 or 9 days a year and real surf 3 days a year. At this point, I feel there are 3 or 4 decent surf riders in Cleveland, but that is after more than a dozen years riding for each of us and getting our asses kicked in 8-foot anarchy.

F. I am glad that the guys riding ponds and rivers have options where they can progress their riding while freeriding/freestyling without having to go into racing.

G. I think everybody is over the 14 backflips in a row for flatwater freestyle....I hope that the rules change and it becomes 50% aerials and 50% non-aerial tricks....

H. Taylor Curtis is the king right now....I never get bored of watching him ride surf. That dude just tears it up....

I. We all miss Joe. (the GOAT)

J. Going to ride some 5-7 foot chaos on Lake Erie right now...so gotta go gas up...

This thread did derail a bit.Sorry to the poster. The guys at ski clinic had the balls to build there own ski and that says alot.Who's had an idea and never acted on it.The Bob 3 will stand on it's own interested to see how that ski performs. Gotta agree with Djkorn we need all the builders and aftermarket people they keep it going.I hope everyone goes to Pismo after the WF so I can share my atc 110 for towing ski's doing wheelies or looping out (you break the flag you buy another) before I hand it over to the new owner Wydopen ha,ha,ha
