What's the best 'ghetto' fix you have seen on a jet ski?

This is prompted by me installing a new pisser fitting last night...I bought my ski used, and it's been painted. Whoever painted it couldn't be bothered to remove the stock pisser...they just painted around it. Of course I ordered a small pisser - so if I just installed it like that, there would be a ring of 'stock' paint around it. Sigh...it's just got a stainless washer behind it for now until I can repaint the ski this winter!

Really...really? It takes what, 2 mins to pull that thing off?? Glad this was stock when I bought it, would hate to see what kind of shortcuts were taken installing mechanical/body parts.

Somebody who just drove eight f'n hours to ride surf and didn't have another head gasket or backup ski?
As I recall, that was a bad day for the majority of skis there.
Wasn't that when Mike decided to "wash" the inside of his motor with bottled water to get all the salt off? :lmao:

LOL.:ugh2: IIRC that head gasket worked for a bit.

You should be in the repair biz for a while, I see it all, the best one was the Kawasaki 750 SS I bought for $100.00 apparently the stator or CDI puked in it, so someone mounted a 4 banger car distributor where the oil pump was at and ran it total loss battery coil, the distrubutor had two cylinders directly across from each other firing the motor and the other two cylinders had a wire running from one terminal to the other on the cap, there is a pic of it somewhere around here, I will see if I can find it.

That's pretty ingenious actually.

I punched a fairly large hole in the side of my hull dropping it off of an unfamiliar trailer once, and rode all day with duct tape covering the hole.

Before I learned some basic fiberglass skills I once repaired my tray with a stainless steel plate.

one local rider here up til a year or so ago used nothing but speaker wire and garden hose for all things electric and cooling

you might be a redneck if you have more butt connectors than zipties...

jbwelding driveshafts around here is common for blasterfolk...I mean, why replace when you can JB it and forget it (FYI typically lasts 2-3 years before comiung loose...just make sure you have a good wearring and prop)

I had 2 jbwelded motor mount bolts (mount to hull)..2 entire mounts for years...worked great the JB formed threads

a year or 2 butti broke all four motor mounts...but was able to thread a ratchet strap all silly sally throughout the engine compartment.....wrenched it down and got a full day out of it

the car distrubutor though takes the cake..../thread

this guy is pretty awesome as well....

that is freaking awesome !

Speaking of ghetto fixes, I was looking for a WRlll coil a few hours ago and some fool has externally mounted a lawnmower solenoid up on this WRlll, he was using one of the electric box screws on the back of the box to hold it up, brilliant !

Shoot those are the only starter solenoids I've had last and they are only $13 at any local auto/hardware store. Granted I run total loss but those things work.
