Glass and gelcoat compatability

You can put poly gelcoat over epoxy resin as long as your resin was mixed accurately. If you used too much hardener there will be unused amines in the cured layup that will react with the gelcoat causing it to turn a pink blush color. I have used ploy gelcoat over epoxy resin multiple times on Jetskis, with no problems at all. It will bond just fine if your surface is ruffed up enough, and your resin was mixed right.

Good news is I only used Poly everything, so as to have any weird reactions. The part that I gel-coated had a minor repair on the edges done by me with poly resin. It's strange because the gel crinkled and bubbled up after the last coat with the wax additive. That's why I was inquiring if the construction, or original coating was different than the rest of the hull.
