Guys with TBM Flywheels

I got my flywheel on friday, and I noticed that some of the coating on the teeth ring is flaking off?? What is the coating should I send it back for a new one?? I dont want it to rust if its a rust proof coating of some kind?

Not sure about the flaking off problem, I would just call Tim at TBM, he is is a good guy and will take care of it if it is not supposed to happen. How much difference could you tell in the way it runs with that lightweight wheel?

I don't think I had flaking on mine but admittedly, I didn't really inspect it too much.

I havent put it in yet, I just got the flywheel friday, and when I was looking at it the coating on the gear its flaking off.

does tbm have a website to get the number from?

Dont think its gonna rust... its aluminum... At least I think the whole thing is aluminum?

I'll be interested to find out what Tim says though...

yeah... thats what I was just thinking... maybe the teeth have to be steel for strength...

I never really thought about it... I just threw it on the ski... mine did not look like it was flaking, but I really would like to know what comes of this... keep us up-to-date man...
