last time i rode was at wavedaze, I had some electrical issues and ended up replacing the coil on the beach... no problem, rode all day it was great. When i got back i flushed my ski, fogged the motor and covered it in crc. I went out the other day and hit the start button and nothing happened. I just opened my ebox and the sludge that poured out looks like mud :banghead::banghead::banghead: I have no clue how this happened bc i sealed the hell out of the box before installing it and coated everything with greese. The power wire to the relay was eaten through with corrosion and not attached anymore, and the plug from that wire to my enhancer was also corroded off at the connection. WTF?!?!?!

whats the best way to fix the broke wire on the enhancer?

:sadwavey:

i will once i get it all back together. I put the cdi and coil in rice to absorb any water that may be on them. I plan on cleaning all the connectors and greasing them.

The Wire that connects from the starter relay to the battery has the small red wire that connects to the msd cdi from the power cable , what can i use to fix the wire since the old plug broke off?

If the wire broke off on large gauge battery cable just use an eyelet connector and bolt it underneath the battery cable at the solenoid.

thats a good idea.... i just dont know if they make eyelet connectors that will work with such a small gauge wire and still fit over the solenoid post

though it isn't for everybody, i spent about $430 with JSS to redo my whole electrical system. All new battery cables, external battery terminal posts, all new bullet connectors on inside of ebox, new gasket, re wired stator, quick disconnect stator, new s/s switch wires + more... basically 100% bullet proofed my electrical system and in my opinion it was about the best $430 I have spent. Peace of mind that my system isn't going to fail.

I sent in my stuff around this time last year and the turn around was lightening fast. I had all my stuff back in like 1.5 weeks.

the cheaper alternative is to open the fuse access cover everytime you put the ski away...

thats what i have been doing to mine to dry out any water that might be in there.

i had the same scenario happen to me this year. muddy brown water.

i have heard a new e-box gasket and siliconing up the wires where they go through the rubber boots well helps also. i havent tried that out yet though.

check this out for some advice http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/43758/post-585323#post585323

Looks like it is time for someone to CNC a box out of aluminum. We have billet everything else, why not? I was shocked the first tiem I saw someone use lag screws to hold a Yamaha ebox together. But I can't complain too much, my Kawasaki ebox crapped out the selonoid this year too.

Oddly enough i had the cover off of the fuse area

Now imagine that with a handful of mud mixed in and thats what i saw..
I just hope my enhancer is not destroyed

got it all back togather, now i get spark the moment i hit the start button then nothing after that. I have tried disconnecting the stop switch and used another ss assembly. all my grounds are good, new battery cables, fully charged battery..... what else needs to be checked? would these symptoms happen if my enhancer is shot?

im terrible with diagnosing electrical problems... and hate when they happen to me.

but i had a 750 once that would spark right when you let go of the start button... it was the stator on that one.

Well i just swapped the msd back for the stock cdi no difference which i guess is good bc i would hate if that thing was broke. I replaced the rectifier, new plugs, cut the coil wires back and put on kawi boots and all i got was a rough start that died and now nothing at all. when i ground the plugs i will get good spark then after a few seconds nothing at all... guess im gonna test the stator ( which i have only had on this boat for 3 months :banghead:)

check the stator wires inside the box first... they are probably corroded inside the wire where you cant see it. dont go cutting anything but try to see if they bend freely or if they have any breaks.

its time consuming and not fun but youll find the culprit eventually.

good luck

Ok I just did ALOT of tests ( with an analogue meter) :

my primary coil reads a little under .2 ohms ( black and red wires to coil)
The ends of the plug wires read a constant 4300 ohms

The charge coil reads just under 400 ohms and at a 100 ac setting reads 3.2v

The pulser coil reads 15 ohms and at the 100 ac setting .4

I am really lost now, it appears that everything is good and swaping out the cdi didnt help a bit... any suggestions

bump, I replaced every component in the box last night. I used three different cdi's, two stators that both tested good, two coils, three rectifiers, and two start stop switches, and I am still not getting spark.

Could bad grounds or lack of grounds cause no spark? My box is out of the ski and i normally have a ground wire from the motor to one of the posts that the box mounts on... any suggestions are welcome

Absolutely.

The engine block itself is grounded via the negative starter cable running directly from the starter to the neg. battery terminal.
The ebox is grounded via the stator, to the engine block.
