I think it was two year ago at Daytona, Taylor's new Rickter went down Sat morning in that insane slop, nobody saw him go down, but I saw a handle pole floating above the waves and him getting sent about three hotels down. We grabbed the truck and went and got him. Ski was def floating, and def full of water, a lot of water.

It would need to be manually activated. Pressure activated would deploy during nosestabs or deep subs.

From what I've read, it seems as though most sink when the hood comes off. If this is the case for the majority of sinkings, what about using a lanyard system to the hood?

Put a stainless steel eyehook with proper backing, or something along the same lines, at the front bottom of the tray like where the SJ had the fire extinguisher case.

Add cut off the majority of the strap on this guy and add quick connects that would snap onto the eyehooks.

Connect a lanyard to the hood from the pull on it incorporating a release.

If you are wrenching or doing an internal fuel fill, use the release to disconnect it from the hood.

If you are in the surf and you lose your hood, the lanyard will activate the infation device and you'll have a decent amount of extra lift.

Just a thought on something out there already that could possibly be used.

Lol, a few of us have just about beat this idea to death outside of the forum already, always funny to see how many guys have had this idea and done nothing with it.

A company out of Switzerland designed an inflatable backpack to be worn while skiiing in avalanche country and it has been adapted to snowmobilers as well. My buddy had one but i can't remember if it had an auto release.

Good to see the new ideas, maybe collectively we could pool our talents and come up with a working unit.

A R/C circuit could be used for the electronic trigger.
The values of the R/C circuit would determine the delay.
When water completes the circuit across the two probes inside the hull it discharges the capacitor. When volts across the capacitor goes below .75 volt the transistor’s collector goes to ground. When water leaves the probes the capacitor is charged.
