SX/SXi/SXi Pro Have 650sx looking at 750sx

I have a 1991 650sx that i just redid last year. I painted it and did the footholds and a plate and scoop. A friend has a 92' 750sx for sale. Should i sell mine and buy his? Its in pretty good condition. Would it be worth it? It looks like the hull is a bit heavier and only has 11hp more. What should I do?

I wouldn't do it. I'm not a huge fan of the 750s though.

Still anything is better than the 650sx, no offense.

The first question to ask is what type of riding do you enjoy. Flat out speed, and running buoy courses, or trying to do some freestyle?

For speed and carving the 750sx will be great platform. You'll be able to do a lot of modifications for the purpose. But if you're up for the freestyle game holding onto the 650sx until you can snag a Superjet would be the way to go. If freestyle is what you want to do in the end I probably wouldn't waste time in the 750sx.

Depends what mods it has done and if the SN has the 701 or the 650.

As for that I'd say go take a look at it, get some pictures and make another thread here. You'll get some great info from some of these guys.

I can tell you first hand that I went from a 650sx (which at the time I absolutely loved) to my 90 SN with slight mods and it was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made. Initially I wanted to stay with Kawi because I loved my 650sx and 550sx so like you, I thought of going to a 750sx or sxi or sxi pro, but because of the gazillions of people on this site and pwctoday saying over and over and over and over . . . . to convert to a superjet I decided to get a SN instead. Like I said, one of the BEST decisions I've ever made. I have no interest in ever riding another kawi standup now.

So I guess I can be added to the "used to ride kawi standups, but now that I have a superjet, I'll never go back to kawi" list. Which probably has a least a million people on it.

Pass on any old ski unless its perfect and/or has all the expensive goodies. The old Kawasaki 650-750 can do some things better than a Superjet but nobody rides that way anymore. Yamahas have more going for them and are a better choice overall.

My type of riding is more sport i would say. Just tool around, on the 650 i can submarine and ride backwards, but thats about it. I ride on a small flatwater lake with hardly any waves, and coeur d alene which is bigger, but still only 1-2 foot waves max.

its all preference. I ride a sxi for freestyle and love it, but I have done a lot of work to make it better. Every weekend I ride a SN and a SXR, but still come back to my sxi because i like it better. Its faster and lighter. If you want to come out with us one weekend. Try before you buy!

wow, you have balls to go riding this time of year. Do you wear a full length wet suit? So i decided that im going to do this. Compression test is about 135 which according to the kawa manual is within spec. Unless I am wrong?

List of mods on it are:
Flame arrester
Coffman Exhaust
SS Impeller
R&D Grate and Plate
I think im missing something.

I'll just point out one other thing. It's funny how many people on this site have usernames like ForeverKawi or Kawi Rider or SXI Rider or SXR Rider or 750sxGuy (not talking about any specific people just in general), but now they are soley or mostly superjet riders.

that said, the most important thing is that you're on the water having a great time!
