$200 for a helmet  Tim, I may need to try yours this weekend. I just replaced my Bell after two years with another Bell. I haven't broken my nose with one on yet but it wouldn't surprise me. Done it with a Protec and with nothing on :banghead:

I'm pretty sure I've seen some real bloody pics of you mark from bars to the face while wearing a helmet too.

I"ll have my helmet there incase I ride. it's free for use if you or anyone wants to try it out.

It's one size fits all but I don't have the smaller insert so... better have a big big head.

Demon,
Did you modify the bird cage at all ?

I couldn't handle the one bar that was always in line of sight so I hacked it off. I was going cross eyed with that thing but now it's all good.

that one sucks. a riding buddy of mine bought it and doesn't like it. it has the same shell but everything else is different.

I picked up my CPX on ebay for around 60 bucks.

i have the whitewater one with the cage. i bought a small and had to add padding. i bought a neoprene hood for cold water, but it makes the helmet fit perfect with no extra padding. the hood also protects the eardrums from water getting shot in to them and blowing them out.

i felt like i was riding the short bus at first, but really don't care now since i have hit my head and i didn't get split open.

the whitewater one does not absorb water and with the cage wieghs 1.7 lbs. the bmx style ones from wally world weigh 2.6 and will retain water. i went with the lightest so my kneck would not get fatigued.

I was at the bike shop today and they said SixSixOne makes a BMX helmet with removeable foam liner and has no cloth to get wet. He ordered one and I will see it tomorrow. Any one tried one of these? I went to get the Bell Balastic and he said this one may work better, we will see

Bought the Brine Lacrosse on good advice from Wavedemon....17.8 ounces total...and has a super light option if u ride without the face saving cage...has 20 vents for lightness and airflow/drain... here is a pic without the face guard....real happy so far....

the problem with the white water helmet is the face guard is right at the end of your nose with wide gaps in the cage. Also, the neck area has no padding like the CPX just a weird strap. the chin guard is also not as good as the CPX

I'm curious as to what on a ski you're afraid of fitting through the gaps in the cage? You don't have horns on your ski do you wavedemon? :sgrin:

I do agree about the chin issue though. Mine hangs down past the cage so I added a football style chin pad and straps that takes care of that for a whole $4.95.

I agree with wayne, it's a great helmet, esp for the money.

most of the time my head is kinda tucked toward my chest when doing a big stab or inverted stab. i don't feel my chin is exposed enough to get it busted, but time will tell.

with the neoprene hood i don't even feel the strap on the back. as far as neck padding, i don't think it is really needed. i have never hit the back of my neck.

my nose is short so it is not as close to the cage as some peoples. lol

I looked at the sixsixone helmets before I bought mine, would have gotten one too but found a deal i couldn't pass on ebay for the remedy. IMO they are better than the bellistic.

well i burst my ear drum today because i wasnt wearing my (Protec Acewake)

so fricken stupid, one of the only times that i havnt worn it!!!!

I got a Cascade CPro off ebay for $56 shipped. I'm really happy with it.

When I put it and a wetsuit on I feel like a warrior, I don't care if I look goofy.

The bars don't bother me, except for when snot is leaking out of my snoz onto my chin and it's hard to wipe away while riding.

Guys with the Cascade, what kind of impact do you think it can withstand? I like the face protection aspects but, with it being a Lax helmet, I'm wondering if its tough enough. Thoughts?
