I collected a tree at about 25mph, took it right on the forehead. F-er jumped right in front of me in a mangrove trail.
Other than a few scratches the helmet survived quite well. My neck hurt like a mother though.

I think it's just as tough as the BMX helmet.

I'll never buy a BMX helmet again.

It sounds like its pretty tough.

I had the bell before and felt like the guard was too close to my face and really offered little protection up front. If the shell of the cascade is as tough as the bell I'll definitely switch.

I don't see the bars being an issue as caged hockey helmets haven't bothered me in the past.

I have both the Freeride Giro by Blowsion and the Bell. The Giro is lighter and more comfortable.

If you want high dollar they also sell a carbon fiber Giro. Very trick.

Not really looking for a high dollar helmet just wondering if the snowboarding giro might be warmer for cold weather riding? anyone know.

I looked for a helmet prior to Tona. Found one I simply fell in love with…the brand started with an “S”. :dunno: It was a children's, male, small, and it still didn’t fit properly, so he wouldn't sell it to me thankfully. He ordered an xs…telling me it arrived after the meet. It was between $3-400.00...I don’t recall exactly.

It was beautiful, black with a faint purple design, but best of all it felt so different from all the others…it felt GREAT (and light). It had two safety certifications. The one I have now is certified, but is cheap and feels no where near as good (plus it probably doesn't fit properly either...now that I've been taught). I never did go back to look at it. I still want to, but after reading this thread with all the cheap prices…I just don’t know. I want it though.

I know it is prob not the greatest but I picked up a bell full face helmet from wal-mart for $40. I will get a better one eventually but this one seems ok for now.

X2 I have the same Wally World special. A full faced Bell at 1/2 the price of anyone else. As a matter of fact I bought two because they were so cheap and after two years I still haven't worn out the first one.

got myself 661 evolution full face helmet, very simular to bell bmx style.
will try it out this summer
