Time to pick up a new Brain Bucket. What everybody using now. Been using an older 661 MTB helmet.
The TLD Stage helmet is MTB Helmet and weighs 685 grams. Certainly on the expensive side at $295 USD. I was going to use my MX helmet but after searching and reading recommendations on this forum, decided against it. Lol. I am new to all of this and plan on only riding fresh water, so hopefully the helmet I bought lasts a little while. HahahahaIve been using a Oneal spark Downhill helmet. Very light, and affordable. think around 700-750 grams for size Medium. and i think price wise, around 100 USD.
I would buy a MET parachute next time i think, but its 2 or 3x the price. And with saltwater use, it wears out.
Im done using my old TLD MX helmets, way to heavy.
When I was looking, I was looking on Amazon. Under the specs for each helmet there was shipping weight and Item weight. 2 lightest I found were the Fox Proframe and TLD Stage. I looked up “MTB MIPS helmets” the mips helemts seemed to have the lightest weights and best safety ratings too. That's one problem, nobody has weights listed....
Which one?i like my 661
Dag, I use to race. Still have my Helmet that I use to race with. It is too heavy for freeriding. Fine for racing. It rarely gets wet.ShredReady and Gecko offer the least protection but also the lightest and absorb zero water. Wet weight was the biggest factor when I was looking. My advise is to try and find something with little foam to get wet and that will be the helmet you will always want to ware. Everyone I know with foam helmets never seem to ware them. We arnt taking huge hits, we only need something to help spread out the impact and prevent your skull from being cut open. However, If you plan on racing i'd get something with more protection
