I have a strange electrical issue and curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

Ski is running great all day and randomly does not fire back up out on the water so I get towed in. I’m getting spark to both plug wires. I can put 1 plug in 1 hole and the ski will run on that 1 cylinder. I can remove that plug and put the other plug in the other cylinder and it will run on that cylinder, however, when both plugs are in it will not even attempt to even sputter like it wanted to fire over. Tried this over and over It doesn’t matter if the plugs are super loose with only a couple thread in or spun all the way down tight. If both plugs are threaded into the domes I won’t get any kick over what so ever but 1 plug in it will run all day long.

My first though was not getting enough crank speed to fire the CDI so I borrowed 2 battery’s from other’s skis at the lake last night just to see if it made any difference. Crank speed was defiantly faster (sounded back up to full cranking RPM by ear) with the other battery’s, however, same symptoms with all 3 battery’s. Would run in each hole individually but not with both plugs in.

Picking some local riders brains I’m going to try and replace the coil tonight and see if that makes any difference. Would love to get this solved before headed out to the GA Freeirde in a few days so trying to come up with some alternative plans in case the coil is not the issue.

I’m not big on electronics but this is the damndest thing I have ever seen

Sounds like it is grounding somewhere.
Easiest to start at the beginning;
Check battery - Checked
Check grounds
Unplug your stop switch
New plugs
etc
etc

Maybe the Epic is dead?? I experienced some weird stuff like that when my Enhancer was on its way out. I thought it was my start stop switch with dirty internals but it turned out to be the MSD.

If you have an epic, then swap cdi to test. Epics are notorious for very strange running problems.

Got home and just for the hell of it I went to try and crank it with my old "dead'ish" battery I was running yesterday and it fired right up with both plugs in. Ski runs like crap with a OEM CDI so just going to replace the coil and see if that fixes the "warming up" problem. If it doesn't fix it I'll try a OEM CDI to confirm before but the ski will barely plane with a OEM CDI the way I'm pitched so that test is gonna suck for freeride testing. Cdi is probable the better test, howevee, at least this way I can ride most the day between cool down periods and still have some fun at the ride.

Found a loose ground, should be good. Probably won't have a chance to water test until the freeride. I'll pack a extra tow rope

Yeah, chewed up some wires de-potting it but its running again. Since I'm in a pinch to make the freeride I'm just going to paint the wires that are chewed up to protect them. Is water based paint the best or oil base?

What about liquid black tape carefully applied ?
