Someone correct if this wrong.l freed up an old 400 one time with a half and half mix of kerosene and diesel fuel.Soaked it for about a week.lt worked......
I was told by Art that he uses a impact wrench set VERY VERY lite . He says to just let it tap lightly a few seconds .... let it rest and tap on it some more . He said he has had good success with this method . Good luck be patient don't break any bolts .
50/50 ATF(auto trans fluid) and acetone supposedly works, set the engine upside down in a tray, fill to coat bolts and seal from air with saran wrap so the acetone does not evaporate away. Should work.... Diesel would be cheaper tho
Thanks for all of the idea's i tried most of them, they didn't work though. So i took the bottom half of the motor apart and pulled the crank out with the pistons attached. So i guess i'll save on a gasket kit.
Thanks again
p.s. Don't buy salt water ski'sssss (fresh water only)
I fabricated two 1/2" steel plates - one bolts to where the bedplate goes, and the other slides over the head studs. After the two plates are attached to the engine, I use two small bottle jacks and simply force the cylinder off of the crankcase. Works every time.
I have had great luck using a 1/4" battery powered impact. For the most part its not strong enough to break bolts, but is enough to break them loose.
Another guy that deals with saltwater motors ALOT told me he had the best luck using a Butterfly air impact set pretty low.
It can be time consuming but surprisingly it worked very well. Much easier to just sit there and let the impact do its job than to break the bolt off and have to extract it.
the head bolts should come off with a bit of heat from a propane torch. then soak the crap out of it with pb blaster several times, then use a lot of heat and paitence! good luck!
i have a kawi 650 motor the top end is good but the bottom end was shot. i have soaked it in the parts washer for a week and the cases will not sepperate from the cylinder no matter what i do. so i feel your pain!
i just used the diesel method in a 15 gallon tote and my crank rusted to junk!!! 1 day it looked fine but didnt loosen up, 2 day starting showing some color so i cleaned it up and inspected still no budge, didnt check it 3rd day and 4th it had LOTS of rust accumulating seemed even worse than the beginning! this was a hot rods crank which i feel are complete garbage to begin with, but i didnt expect diesel to do this! weird
