Other Help Stop Noobism!

Okay so I recently acquired my first up right and am looking for some DO's and DON'Ts. When I first got into jet skis in general there was so much information that every owner/rider should know but no one takes the time to say forcing the noob to learn the hard way. Some inlcude:

Burping the ski once on the trailer to clear water
How to flush a ski
Don't turn on the hose before starting the engine when flushing a ski
Don't let the ski run on the hose for more than 5 minutes (carbon seal lubrication issue)
and many more

So if there is anything you think I should know or wish you knew when you started please let me know!
I am a complete noob so I will not be offended at the dumbest advice feel free to assume I know nothing

burp the ski as many times as it takes to dry it out, usually more than once.
don't run in too shallow of water and suck up crap through your pump.

Buy a torque wrench.
Buy a voltmeter.
Always have WD-40, loctite, and dielectric compound on hand.
Home depot resin is poop, dont use it.
No matter how much of a pain in the ass it is, shim your components correctly.
Rebuild your carb before posting questions about it (that includes needle and seat).
If your thinking of starting a ski project, double your budget and estimated hours.
SN top decks are poop.
Pipe wrenches, breaker bars, heat, and leverage will solve any problem. A good vice helps.
Budget at least a trillion dollars every week for things that will inevitably break.
Sell drugs to support your ski habit.
Girlfriends cost money, either sell more drugs or put them on a corner.
Wait, what?

Oh, buy a superjet.

newbie wiht out a ski yet this is the best info yet to come thanks ! :brap:

- superjet impellers are reverse threaded
- the one-way valve on the gas tank should let air IN, but not let fumes OUT.
- if running the ski on the trailer, and it gets a lean run-away (revs to the moon), then the best way to kill it is to press AND HOLD the stop button WHILE AT THE SAME TIME keeping the throttle pulled wide open
- if running an ADA head, make sure the head and girdle bolts are torqued properly...and check them periodically
- foam doesn't help the ski float...but it stops it from sinking. Yes, that makes sense.
- scuppers leak
- is the fuel filter IN THE CARB clean?
- bilge lines, whether stock siphon or electric pump, should have a high loop in them that goes above the waterline and outlet.
- stock heads use "H" plugs, ADA and most other aftermarket heads use "E" plugs
- if the ski is porpoising, you need to ride more
- Blowsion is ridiculously expensive, buy someplace else
- yes, you should put a pipe on it
- adjusting carbs is more than turning screws. After mods, expect to have to change jets and perhaps adjust pop-off pressure. Test the pop-off pressure.
- if you need to crank a superjet engine with plugs out/disconnected, hold the stop button while pressing the start button. This stops the spark to the plugs (and can save certain ignitions / coils)
- read the TECH FAQ section of this site
- if you swamp your engine (full of water), then pull plugs, tip it over, and crank til no more water comes out. Dry plugs, get it running ASAP, and RIDE IT hard for at least 20 minutes. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW.

If a sea-doo runs for 5 minutes, whether on the water or on a hose, consider yourself lucky. Carbon ring, pffffft, over engineering at it's finest.

Obviously, I have already admitted to the fact that I am new to the sport. I'm looking for good information not criticism. If you have something to say that would make me further understand the topic I would appreciate it.

hi. im Zack. im sarcastic :Banane19:

do a search this place is loaded with information.

basically you need to tee of a line that goes to your head. you can run 5 gallons thru the ski on the hose, wont hurt anything.

If I am ever rude to you in a post I promise to send you a Private Message right away saying sorry and we can be bros.

(It just keeps happening so I thought I would bring it up)
