I'll be trying it out tonight. Just wanted to put this setup in that I know works to try it out. I'll try and set the FPP in there tonight after a test run, and I'll let you guys know.
Nice. Did ya ride it yet?

Barrel Roll Pics?
Patience young grasshopper. I'm about to head to the lake. I was up until around 4:30AM this morning working on, so I had to get a LITTLE rest. I'll let you know shortly!
It fits in mine, but you cannot remove the headpipe without taking the motor out....its that close. Headpipe must be installed when you slide the motor back onto the mounts.

I hope it fits in there! If not I'll be in a bad spot. Who the hell wants one in there without the FPP?!?!

I kept saying it wasn't that hard to do...

Now would someone please donate one of those pillet powervalve cylinder SJ engines for me to use?

I didn't think it would be that bad, and it wasn't. Just took some thinking. Seriously, I started out yesterday morning going damn, I'd like to get that engine in there sometime soon. It took me from about 11:00AM to 6:00PM to get the idea worked out, by 9:00PM the plate was modified to work and I spent the rest of the night installing it.
I never thought I would hear the brap before the night was over, but I did! I'm on the way to the lake to give it a try now.

good job will.

isn't the 650 sj motor a turd?

It is. The idea was that ANY Yamaha engine will now bolt right it. I blew up my 780, so I decided I would go ahead and get it ready for the Yamaha.
As soon as I can I'll be putting a 701 top end on the ski, and a few other tricks I have planned.
The 650SJ motor will hit hard with the right mods. Compression, timing, larger carb, FPP, etc.. I think I can get plenty out of it, then as I said I'll go to the 701 as soon as I get the chance.

The word is good. I rode about an hour on the X2 this afternoon with no problems. Everything stayed exactly where I put it.
No vibrations, etc.. It's SMOOTH. Of course it's lacking in the power department, which I knew when I was doing it. Like I just posted, the 650 will hit hard with a few more mods, and power wasn't the main goal of this test. Now that it's ripping with the 650, I'll concentrate on getting a bigger engine, and atleast more power out of the current engine.
I'm running way to much impeller, and not enough ass to turn it right now. Unfortunately I don't have any other impellers to try out. I think it will spin it good though with my fpp/46SBN and a little more tuning. This thing is going to be SWEET before long.
Here are a few pics for the haters!
BTW it sounds pretty good with just that stock 650SX pipe in it. Can't wait to try a B-pipe.

Proof and point, the kawi pump is just fine, no need to change it out just get the right prop for the power delivery.

not compared to mine, hilbilly!!!! :hitwithrock:

Now children! No fighting in my thread!
However I will agree that in stock form, the 650SJ is WAY snappier and has more torque than the 650 kaw. I know if you can get your 650 kaw to hit good, that this 650SJ engine will slam. No doubt about it.
There are a lot of guys rocking the 650's in there SN's and they will scream. I'll probably end up buying some cylinders and just putting a 701 top end on it and have a fakie-701.
