Was trying to figure out how to mount mine tonight. I was going to build this engine for a SJ but after I build the engine there will be no more $$$ for the part that floats. Might as well break it in in the X2 next year. Did you make spacers to mount the cases to the bed plate?

I was thinking about this a while ago. If the coupler height is too low and spacers are needed to get it to the correct height , instead of stacking washers , I was going to use aluminum handlebar tubing cut up to make the correct size spacers.

I strongly suggest that whatever you do you replace those four case bolts with studs, they are only 8mm bolts, they are not going to take a lot abuse, the stock Kawi engine mounting bolts are 10mm and so are the stock Yamahas.Remember most of us are beating the crap out of these hulls ,yes even me!

From my dealings with this the case bottom mounting to crankshaft centers on both were damn near identical,I will know a little more tomorrow if the bedplate shows up then.

I have an idea for another product for these but I have learned it is better to keep your mouth shut till it is built.

Is there enough meat to goto 10mm?

Yeikes!...I was thinking that the case bolts could be used. The only thing I thought could cause a problem is that all the engine torque would be transfered to these bolts.
WFO why do studs give you 30% more clamping force. I'd also be concerned about warping the cases by tightening the bolts enough to secure it to the bedplate.

Good idea. I'll look into that. This isn't the ultimate solution. I'll be grinding the ribs out, and glassing in some plates for the yamaha mounts. I know that will work, and will be plenty strong for me. Just not a bolt in solution, like the plate I'm using.
As for now I just used longer bolts, no spacers but I've got spacers being made and on the way shortly to fill the gap. Also keep in mind I'm using a 650 for testing purposes, not the most torque, haha.
Also, does anyone know if a 650SX or any other driveshaft is a little bit shorter..? I was thinking the X2 shaft doesn't fir other ski's for some reason. I want the engine about an inch further back. I'm having issues getting the FPP chamber in there because of length..
