man, this stirs up crap everytime...........

see about getting new HIN numbers issued, tell them that you built it. Custom hull.

yeah, i was thinking about that too. I also have a set of HINs from my old GP1200 down at Donnie's house I thought about using... since that is still in my name, but now in a landfill somewhere...

yeah i know you can get a custom built watercraft, i did it with a friend of mine with an old pontoon/party barge we built from an old one we found.....it was in Wisconsin don't know how the other states do it, but i remember it being really easy.

Clearly you don't know the local marine police... LOL hahahaha

I figured I'd see if anyone wanted to make a little money on a set of HIN's from a thrashed ski...

I know on our reg. stickers it says the length of the boat. If you register it as a GP and it says 9' or 10' or whatever a GP is and he looks at your 7' superjet he may know something is up? Throw on some JS or SX HINs...

Ahhh i C.... yeah, NYS does not have that kind of info on their stickers.

I did find the form I need to fill out to apply for an HIN for a home made boat. I will fill it out and submit it. They then have someone come out to inspect it...

In Florida it is a simple form and a few dollars to get a HIN for a custom-built ski.

I have had two done this way. And if the craft is under 16 feet there is no inspection required.

You may want to check, but I beleive altering a VIN is a felony in many states. I know it's difficult if not sometimes impossible to trace in a rebuilt ski, but I don't think the risk may be worth it if you are caught. Can't you apply for a state issued VIN/HIN through your DMV/Tax Collector? I believe its safer and not at all costly.

Furthermore, in Florida, they allow you to register a boat (or car) regardless of what state you live in. Take a trip there and get FL numbers/registration. If you get crap about having FL numbers in your local riding spot then transfer your new homebuilt Florida ski registration to your state.

people make a lot bigger deal about all this then they need to, i remember i used to think it was a big deal. until i went through the process, ill tell you though its saved me some serious dough on hulls without titles ive bought in the past,

does anyone know where to get new vin tags to replace lost ones? my superjet vin tag got lost when i was working on it and i was wondering about a replacement?
