Home made handle pole...???

I made one out of stainless once, I don't remember exactly how thick the wall was but it was pretty thin. It was leftover tube for railing. You could probably get away with pretty thin aluminum too if you designed it correctly.

Heres you a custom repaired pole, lol. I traded a js550 quicktrun plate for it. Maybe my local welder can fix it.

Thanx for the pic! That's pretty much what I want to do. Did you have any issues with it bending at all being so thin?

No. In fact I don't think it would be possible to break it without something catastophic happening first. I noticed we still have a chunk of it so I measured the wall- it's about 1/16" .

Does anybody know how thick the tubes on a RRP are?

How bout the OD? I was thinking somewhere around 2 - 2 1/2 inches maybe?

Ha Ha, here's my ghetto fix on a SN a while back just to get me on the water:

i think those home made poles would look alot better if they has a small bend down near the top

Blah... RRP poles are so thick... I think they look goofy at how beefy they are. I made mine out of smaller diameter and thicker wall as I like the long and lean look. And its adjustable similar to the RRP pole as the inner tubes are sleeve fit into the outers and are clamped down. Since I used thicker wall tubing (3/16 if i remember correctly), I was able to cut nice big juicey beveled holes for the cables to run through.

As for the goose poles, they are really to thin. he has to drill the holes for the cables very small (so if you lose those gromets you eat your cables up pronto) to retain his wall strength... cut them bigger and you will see the poles torque. And the subplates on them are silly huge and unbraced.

The hole in the pole is drilled ~1mm over and I'm using a piece of brass tubing sleeved over the pivot bolt, to make up for the perfect snug fit. This allows the pole bolt to be tightened very tight and never have the stainless bolt wobble out the pole holes. On the outside of that I'm using stock kawi 550 polyurethane spacers.
