Super Jet hood liner

what is the best way to get the line out of the inside of a sn superjet hood is there something that will eat away the glue or do i just cut and brake its way out?

cut most of it out with a cutoff wheel on a grinder then get the hard parts out(green glue areas) with a chisel and a hammer.

here is a couple shots of the hood liner we built on my buddy's squarenose. It was a couple layers of thin stuff. 8oz weave maybe. I put a few strips of biax in there afterwards to toughen in up cause it felt a bit flexy to me after it cured. He doesn't beat on his stuff that hard so I can't give it a bulletproof rating but its very light(10-12 pounds). Lighter than my WDK diablo hood or my Tom21 hood and it was custom made.

Speaking of custom made, I will never try and build a hood again. we put so many hours into that hood just to make it what it is(nothing special) and I could go buy a hood for 4-500 bucks. The day we finished building that hood I vowed to never try it again. 4-500 bucks is cheap for a hood when someone else builds it and makes it look nice.

thanks those pics help alot so u just fiberglassed your liner is there any thing u wound do diff? that would make it lighter or proform better

The thing I wouldve done different is never got into building that hood. I wouldve bought one instead. We probably put 40-45 hours into that hood. And it doesn't look like anything special.

I used cardboard and duct tape to make the mold for the hood liner. then i pulled it, and glassed the hood liner back in with some strips of carbon.

well i already have mine all cut up so cant go back now but i was reading on carbon and glass and there are diff thickness what would u be the best stuff for the hood and some hull mods and how many layer i have a big roll of glass but i dont know the grade of it i was thinking of doing three layers on the hood its kinda thick stuff

I did biax on the top of that hood for strength. The liner is paper thin though. Only two or three layers of 8oz glass.

okay what did u use for the nose and did u cut out the gass that was there stock ive seen some people do that and othere that didnt i would like to do it to mine but im afaird i wont be able to get it as strong again

I just foamed the nose and glassed over the foam. I would leave all the stock stuff there unless you are confident in your glassing skills. It will leavfe the structure of the ski there.

k i will do that most likely im takeing 3" of the back of the hull but it will be a while till gi get that fare im starting with the hood then nose then foaming the hull and shorting
