Hood Rat to Hot Rod... Js300/440/550 Thing.

Weighed my ski the other day after the test ride on the lake. She came in at 246lbs complete ski, no paint, no hydro-turf, and a half tank of fuel.

No idea how with all the glasswork I still lost ~5lbs?

114kg • 2.2046 = 251.326 lbs

What to do when your puller doesn't reach the lower bearing....

Gotta do whatcha gotta do!

Figured I'll have to spend at least $200 in chemicals in order to paint the ski, then another $200 to have it painted.... If I was lucky.

So I think im gonna wrap it in carbon.

Since you shaved off the bond line, I'm hoping that you can do something that I was wanting to try myself- make a purpose-built drift ski. No, not drifting like the motor died so you just gave up and swam away from it, but a drift ski. One that you can easily throw into a controlled power-slide around corners like a rally car.

I've been trying to "drift ski" it but haven't gotten it down yet.

Too much work and not enough play time!

Where can I get the mounting hardware and could I use in addition to a pole spring? 20 Dollars seems like a sweet deal

I made a bracket out of ss all-thread, Tek screws, and piece of scrap alum. Then I just used the ball off an old 550 nozzle for the other end.

The bottom mounting location determines how much leverage the shock has to lift the pole.

This setup workes great with no spring...... If positioned correctly I suppose you could use both.

Needed the intake manifold spacer for the 44 to work and I'm a cheap ass so I made my own for $5.30.

With the BN38 and 16° PJS impeller she was a slug.

Took it for a quick test ride on sunday, was running a 115Low 130High combo and holy crap this thing was screaming compared to the 38.

I forgot how squirrelly a JS hull gets at high speed.....Ouch!

The intake mani was all icy when I took off the hood after a WOT plug check:)

So I guess what we now have here is a "JS550/650 bondlineless deck swaped hull running a lightly modded 750"...... wow ......

Good news is my resin just arrived and the machinist called and my cylinder has been fresh cut to 1.5mm

Woot Woot. ~770cc :D

All lined up... Time to stitch her together.

This 650sx bottom has the same width stern to bow as the 550. However the bondline is not. About 1/2" wider on each side..... but not no more:cool:
