Freestyle hooker 9/15 vs stock 2012 SJ impeller

This winter im starting some mods to my 2012 SJ which will include a ada 35cc girdled head, b pipe, proper jetting, and air filter setup

I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade my stock Impeller to the Hooker 9/15. What im trying to ask is with those mods will i see a big improvement or not so much since the stock impeller is decent i read.

I ride lake alot so mostly wakeboard boat wakes along with some ocean riding

let me know what you think if its worth it to upgrade to the hooker 9/15 or not

Most people will suggest keeping the stock air box as it is better at keeping out water and is less restrictive.

From what I have read people say because the 08 and up props are big hubs that there isn't that much of a difference between the stock one and going to a hooker. I am running an 08 and up stock prop and seems to be doing alright, but would really like to just put in a hooker 9/15 and see what the difference is. If you stick with the stock airbox you will see there is 3 screens stacked on top of each other. Take two of them out and it will give a little better air flow.

IMO there is no difference between oem and hooker 9-15. I did the swap and realized I just wasted 3 bills. I actually think the oem was better. Dont waste your money. I did bump up to a 10-16 hooker which was much better than oem.

I put a mag pump and a 9 15 hooker in it and made a big difference I still run my stock flame arester and stock carbs with b pipe stock lightened fly wheel and milled head she rips man

Just curious, how does the stock 08+ SJ impeller compare to the stock SS impeller from the mid-nineties VXR Pro?

No comparison, those VXR impellers are junk. There's a reason the 08 plus ones go for good money. I've heard the stock one is very similar performing to a hooker 9/15 for half the price

Hey big stu, I just remembered what the engine bay looks like in every regional, national, and world championship winning boat I've ever seen. They all had stock air boxes. It makes perfect sense, Smaller opening = more air = more power

SXR? Sure, the oem airbox is restrictive. 701? I don't think so. Especially with one screen left and two removed.

You're high as hell right?
Yeah, he's high as hell and upside down. On a 701 SJ with a stock airbox.

Sweet pic man!
although it really has nothing to do with the amount of air being allowed into your carbs.

I run a stock box on my play boat to keep water out but it also keeps the air out...
