I've had this thing out 4 times now. And, I've got to say...that it's so retarded that it's cool! However, it's overheated badly after many of my WOT pulls. So much so, that smoke starts billowing out of the doghouse. Hoses are melting and Exhaust was getting so hot, that it cooked the powder coat off. I changed up a few things to get more water pressure and got a handle on that....or so I thought.

Apparently these thing had a cooling problem from the start, and when I first got it, I noticed that riding around Body Beach, I couldn't hold my hand underneath the pisser. Like, I'm going to get 2nd degree burns, hot. My plan was to address it this winter and plumb it for dual cooling. But, since that was major surgery, and I wanted to enjoy this thing this summer it would have to wait.

The last time that I had it out, I changed up a few thing,s and it was running really well! RPMs were back up and it was singing. Then, the motor overheated. Again. The top end got so hot this time, that it discolored the paint on the head. I burned the sh*t out of my hand, as well.

So, Eff this... it's coming apart! I've been marinating on how exactly I wanted to get into the pump tunnel and it was either cut out panels on the bottom side, or figure out some way to approach it from the top.

Here's where I went in.

As expected, the foam it pretty saturated. Great! "Defoaming a jetski is my favorite thing". Said no one, ever!

while you have that open make note of the alum plates so you can put on the swim platform and trim tabs.

For cooling I swapped out the npt fitting on the pump with a bigger one. Also the pisser you can fit 3/8 water line in there. So far so good with the 701.

Me too! The 650 was the same way with steam and burning hot water coming out of the pisser. The 701 the pisser is also very hot but the engine while running full throttle is only 115-120f. (checked with temp gun at head and cylinder). I also thought about retaping the pump and running a 1/2" npt from pump to hull.

That's amazing that your 701 runs cool enough with that incompetent cooling system design! So, czech this out...As I'm pulling pipes and wet foam out of the bowels of this thing, I decided to rip that 1.5" exhaust tube out. It's going to get plumbed with a 2.25" straight through pipe. The OEM setup makes a right turn into the pump tunnel. Another brilliant design...I guess it was to quiet things down? Anyway...I cut the water line out and this is what I found. It's aluminum. But, some sh*tty, cheap pot metal. And, if you look closely, you can see what looks like termites, that have eaten holes in various places! And, the tube which is too puny to begin with, necks down to 1/4" at the flared ends!! Again, WTF???
