Gotta love the support for this from within the community...

perfect assessment....

This sport would be even more niche, possibly nonexistent if it weren't for people like Ripper. He was the face of the sport in the early ESPN years.

This is a project that has been in the works for longer than some of the members on here have been alive.

I'll agree the poster leaves something to be desired...but I also know Larry has a lot of himself invested in this project and he has worked for a really long time to make it a reality, and they are working hard to make it as "authentic" as possible. Who knows what the end result will be, but they have some very cool stuff planned. To be perfectly honest if Larry was not behind this movie, I would be SUPER skeptical...but the fact that this is HIS deal makes me quite confident it will be amazing. Of course it will be a while before we get to find out... Until then, I would say we give him the benefit of the doubt and support his movie. He really was the first and probably one of the only true "super stars" our sport has had.

And I'm sorry if I came off like a dick in that last comment I posted...I just hate to see something that could be so good for our sport get :):):):) on right out of the gate.

Hey Ross, if you want everyone on the bandwagon about anything just get Chucky or Pat to post it up. lol
I remember buying some sunglasses years ago just because Larry's pic was on the package. Larry IS the man in my book. Don't get mad, you are OK, but you are no Larry Rippenkroeger. lol JK

I love what Larry is doing for the sport! I'm certainly one of the lucky ones to have had the opportunity to meet him.

And before you post any kind of criticism of something you've never even seen, ask yourself - what have YOU done to advance the sport?

people complaining about some free publicity...

#1 i dont want "publicity" especially so somebody can attempt to exploit this "sport" so they can line their own pockets..im not getting anything out of it..why wouldn't they just use a photo of somebody they are using in the movie or just ask permission?

#2 the photographer that owns that image makes a living selling his photographs..using a copywrited photograph without permission is essentially stealing and a major motion picture company should know that..

im not going to do anything about it and i really dont care i just find it funny that they would go through the trouble to use an image that for one, is nothing special and they dont own..the website that photo is on does not allow you to just "right click and save as" so they must have gone through some trouble to get it..probably would have been easier to pay the photog the 20$ or whatever for the picture..haha also the wave they photoshopped me out of was heavier than the one on the poster

Hey, I agree, they should have gotten permission. No arguement there.

Nascency Chris

The Nascency Project
Gotta go with Ross on this one... anyone doing anything in LA involving jet skis should get everyone stoked for it... Not sure about the copyright claim involving the poster but I will say; it is pretty typical that marketing materials for a project like this will change greatly between now and project completion... and putting "rough drafts" of completed posters, etc is just good business, it gets the name out for sure but now we all get to watch the entire program come together...

Even if the story is a re-hashed LA staple, it sounds like the gear and stuff they are using/doing to shoot the riding is going to be epic! And really, if they can capture the riding in that way then it will be something that truly opens people eyes to what the different aspects of water scooter riding has evolved into (remember, most people get images from the '80s in their head when someone say they ride a jet ski).

I will be pretty stoked to watch this project come together and see the final result... oh, and not for nothing, but anyone that plunks down a multi-million dollar budget to help promote skis deserves to line their pockets a bit, just sayin...
