How about keep the $10 yearly subscription and add a $5/year option for selling privileges which would be separate?
If this was an annual $5 how is that going to prevent people from listing each of there items in its own thread? Is that not what this entire thread about? Or is it about how to get the site money? or both? I'm confused now.

I personally like a little 'wild and wooly' for sale section. It is nice that all sellers are together.

For me it is still like a 'jetskibargaintrader'. You never know what is going to be offered up next.

SN pole spring or... A new a/m product from an X'er making the jump to seller- making stuff at home...

To A new billet monsta...new, used, reman.

I started to type a long opinion on this and deleted it... Bottom line IMO is; more threads = more interest in general = more parts for sale. Why mess with a good thing? It takes a couple minutes to scan the forum for "interesting" items once every day or two. If you don't have time for that, buy new.

I think we'll probably just leave it as-is for now, maybe post a sticky thread suggesting to not go crazy on threads.

Thanks for all the feedback/ideas.

I think a hybrid of all of the suggestions is the best course. I think that number one if you don't support this site with the $10 donation than you don't post in the For Sale section period! I think that is basic. If you don't help support the site why should you get to use the site for your gain. If you want to list something for free then list it on craigslist. After that I think that there should be a yearly limit on for sale posts for regular supporters. If you want to post more than that then charge a flat fee $10 or whatever and give them unlimited posting in the for sale section.

I also think that some enforcement of the user policy in the for sale section would go a long way... If the post doesn't meet the requirements or is being abused by the poster delete it period. Once a person gets their post deleted a few times they might get the hint!

Finally I think it is worth mentioning that it might be time for some of these vendors (i.e. x-metal, trinity, jetmaniac, etc) start ponying up some cash to support the site. They use this site to get direct access to their number one consumers and it doesn't cost them a thing... so why not start by politely asking some of these companies to come off a reasonable donation in return for some perks... exclusive thread, banner ad, etc... I bet most all would be willing to pay no problems...

what about the buyers, aren't they getting a discount buy buying here? shouldn't you charge them too?

not a bad idea

I don't think xmetal or trinity or most other vendors need this site, they have their own retail websites and some have store fronts. Letting them decided to donate like some people or not donate like most people gives us better access to them. What if xmetal didn't like the fee structure and chucky didn't answer any questions here anymore? We'd all lose out.

When did Superjett say the site needed money? He didn't, that's when. Stop spending other people's money, it's never as good of an idea as you think it is.

Would the $10 be required of all forum members? (Right now it's an option)
Could non-subscribers pay only the $5 to sell, or can only subscribed members sell?

Doesn't matter to me either way. Just looking for clarification.

Edit: Never mind. I guess I should have read page 3 before replying to something from page 2. My bad.
