Most people will agree the classifieds here are wild/wooly. We're tossing around ideas of how to reign it in a little but still keep it user-friendly. One idea is $1/thread so that would encourage multiple items/thread instead of 15 threads for 15 items and those getting bumped continuously.

i'd pay a dollar, but i think you'd have pretty good luck if you just added a page that you would have to go through first saying don't be a douche and make a page for each item. i just posted 8 or 10 items in one thread. so it can be done :p

I have thought for a long time that the X needed some coin from for sale/sold items in the for sale section to help maintain the site!!!

I dont like the idea of having to pay to list things. I already get hurt with shipping and paypal fees. Maybe needed in PWCToday, but not here.

I dont think its that bad, how many new f/s posts are made in a day? Not that many.

It will also discourage sellers from selling old junk in there garage. Junk that someone else might really need/want. For example if I have an old pair of 0* bars, but I have nothing else to sell, I probably wont list it for a $1.

Also from a pure economic standpoint, free trade allows the economy to work at an equilibrium. With a tax surplus there is a trade deficit. You dont want a societal loss do you?

Not sure I like that idea, seems like a lot of work for the mods depending on how you would collect, or a lot of work for sellers to have to pay $1 every time.

what about a yearly fee, Like you have to support the X to post in the thread? Some people might hate that idea, but it would be way easier for you to collect and us to pay, rather then having to pay every time, unless you took counts of for sale threads posted and charged people monthly.

Personally I would rather just donate once a year and be able to post whenever. Yes, I understand some people make way to many threads even identical ones (which blows my mind, if we see those do you want us to report them?)

I think a yearly fee that gives full access to the site, and without it you can't post in the for sale section would be best.

Yeah Id rather have a yearly fee to pay for using the site, as opposed to 1$ for every single post...
Bump the yearly support to 20$, 10$ as it was for the maintence stuff, then if you want to post in the for sale, its an additional 10$.
Or something of that nature. Maybe 15$ to post for the year in for sale... Idk just me .02.

I agree. If you don't pay the 10 bucks a year to subscribe to the site, then you shouldn't be able to sell anything in the forsale section. This is an expensive sport so obviously all of us can pitch forward 10 to 20 dollars a year to keep the site running strong.

I like this idea. Pay a yearly fee to be able to sell things in the for sale section. That way casual sellers arent discouraged from selling small items and paying for every new posting. I like it that people can just list anything and everything with little effort. It is like a Super craigslist of jet ski parts!

Maybe also start enforcing the 10 posts all at once people. This used to be me! All it took was a pm from superjett to inspire me to create my master parts thread(listing lots of parts and threads together). Also i try to only bump several threads at a time.

Most of the peple posting here it looks like are already paying the annual fee, which I thnk is a great idea. Are we talking about another fee to sell goods ??? This is what I was thinking when I started a Preffered Sellers list thread. Should it be a differant fee for full time sellers or junk peddlers. I think the under a hundred would cause more problems with multiple posts for little stuff. Best offer + paypal + shipping + Xh2o fees, that doesnt sound too good, alot of options though.

The $1 idea sounds good on the surface, but would be very hard to manage. What's to stop someone from continually bumping a single thread while adding new items each time? IMO a one time yearly charge would be much easier to implement, and could carry a user aggreement stipulating a users policy.

How do you get hurt with paypal and shipping? Either take the time to determine what shipping cost, or have buyer pay "Actual Shipping". As far as paypal goes charge for paypal.

You speak of Free Trade - This site is not free to run. It cost money.

Pay a yearly full access fee for members wanting to post items . If your a a business then you pay more for the access to a select group of buyers ......... If you dont pay then no posting on the for sale page and you have to accept twice the ammount of live advertising popups LOL

The problem with one thread is that the search sucks. I usually search for title only when I need to find a part.
I could use google, but then I cannot search the title or a specific forum. That usually isn't a problem except when I am looking for stuff for sale.

I'd be ok with that, I already encourage people to post multiple items/thread. The end goal is not money-making, but keeping the site usable.

remove the ability to edit original post. If we see someone in a bump add something, then remove thread and ban them from listing any future items.
