....to build a rack for the bed of your truck to transport a ski, complete with electric winch and stowable loading ramps(bunks)?

I'm heading south soon and needed a way to get my ski in and out of my truck by myself. So.. nessessity being the mother of the insane... I devised something out of a less than $80 worth of parts. $50 of that was the winch from harbor freight.

constructive criticism- that carpet on the ramp will tear the hell out of ur hull. Those white plastic bunk sliders would probably work wonders.

your probably right... this is just temporary. at some point I'll redesign the whole thing using and aluminum tube frame, if this version seems to work out ok.

Lumber and carpet is cheap for prototypes.

I like the roller Idea.. but casters can add up quick. not to mention, the whole Idea was to have the ramp bunks stow under the ski so that I'm not cluttering up my bed. this is for a x-country trip and I'm hauling a dirtbike all my gear for both, tools, etc. Plus since it's "officially" a business trip. I need a couple suits as well.

good ideas on both of those though.

I've dragged it up off the floor 3 times with no issues at all. tomorrow I'm loading it in the truck to do my final test and gonna finish off a few little detail things I was to tired to do tonight.

everything from harbor freight is dirt cheap.

as with anything, you get what you pay for.

some of their stuff is of decent quality, though... however, their air-tools blow!

nice rig!!!

Very nice. I used a block and tackle setup once with a 4:1 ratio, it worked, but still took quite a bit of pulling plus I had like 80 feet of rope all over the place. Not the best...

Looks good, I like how your ramp stows in the middle, I got the castors for mine from harbor freight for like $25 for all of them, I had to put some bigger ones at the top to match the height of the pvc so it wouldn't tear up the hull.
