Some of you may think I am nuts, and i know for a fact that I am, but If I wanted to reproduce my modified 96RN superjet hull how much money would it cost and is it alot of work? And I am talking professional quality here, I have some fancy parts i don't want sinking if the hull fails. Now i know for a fact pro builders like eric malone, rickroy, superfreak's berky, and WCF Steve don't come on the internet and share their specs and secrets of their lively hood. They also don't ask questions about how to do it either because they are pros. I do remember one guy that used some people on here back in the day to start making hulls. what was his name, what kinda products did he produce and sell again? some people got screwed but, It doesn't matter i don't plan on ever selling more of these hulls, just make one. I am a concrete construction worker that dropped out of highschool. i can work with my hands and don't mind getting dirty. I know the weak spots on the typical superjets. Somethings i am sure i can do but i choose to pay a pro do it. Is this one of those things that i should consider having pro built? Its a small "sport" and i don't want to step on any toes. How is that Area %! project doing anyways? discuss, or don't.

i work with construction workers everyday on huge building projects. can't give you any credit on that one either bro. Labor experience means nothing without some knowledge of the field.
i am just saying that being a construction worker won't make you a hull builder or a composite expert. now do what you want. if you want to spend alot of money to loose a few pounds making a carbon copy of a crappy hull go ahead. the learning curve and time will be priceless.

Building molds and producing Fiberglass/carbon parts is really not that hard. You can see the whole process on any of a hundred vids on YouTube. It is however, expensive, time consuming and tedious. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by splashing an SJ hull in C.F.?

lots of PRO RIDERS and others that just LOVE to ride jet skis still ride stock hulls, so what makes it SO crappy???

LMAO@ MattE. .....but i pour concrete everyday into forms and molds, does that not count for anything? ;)
I am still on the fence about starting this project. If its only going to cost 1000.00 bucks to make a mold for one use I think its worth it. I am not sure if i will be able to finish it though without loosing interest or maybe quitting my day job as a highschool dropout construction worker. any more input from people that don't build hull professionally would really help. I should be aloud to try anything i want to try, even if its a bad idea right?

What ever happened to letting people do what they want without bashing. Nut actually likes his modified Grunt Hull. He is happy with it. But some assholes always seem to feel they have to come out and impose their unwanted opinions about something that does not concern them. Does not effect them. Is no business to them. Grow up, learn to respect others or get the hell off this website. This is pathetic...............

Rant Over.

its even better that he can lock it after his post and that is that. I think people can do what ever they want but if someone has no clue about building a hull and cost and the work involved, is it better to let the forum hype it up to seem like a good idea? If he is rolling in money, he would buy a good hull. If he is cheap and wants to save money he should buy a used one, not dish out the same amount or more to maybe not be sucessfull in building a decent copy or even not finishing it. Most of us never get it right the first time. This forum has the power to direct people into some serious bad decisions. I have seen it happen, I call what i see. If you don't like it, leave.

Anyone asking such basic questions probably shouldnt try it. Not because it is all that difficult but because any knowledge gained will be bad for the vendors that delude and deceive us. The whole system falls apart when too many people have access to knowledge and show up with good performing equipment that they made for themselves. No worries, the people who are competent at design, test, and manufacture are not riding jetskis. Is it social status that riders are defending or just Stockholm syndrome?

WTF...leave me out of this. I had the other thread locked because you guys were dumping on me. Did you create this thread for the sole purpose of continuing to bash me? I mean it's the exact same question and if you were truly interested in the answer, you would've supported my question whether you thought my specific task was a good idea or not. Obviously, you're just on here to prove you're better than everyone so at least have the common courtesy to leave my name out of the mix.
