how to make homemad pole limiting rope?

hello. I just got my superjet and would like to know how to do this to make one for this summer with stuff from the hardware store. i dont surf ride but i do jump boat wakes and the usual lake stuff. there are some pretty big waves in lake st. clair though. I will also be going to lake Michigan this summer and i dont wanna break off a handlepole jumping waves. instructions and pics would be nice :veryhappy: thanks.

I didn't think it was stupid. I checked out the link, I bet there are some X-H2O members with better home builts than that.
Show us what you got.

U always see ppl that don't even ride with a rope, and as easy as it is, it's always nice to have some other thoughts on anything u custom make for ur ski!!

Nice to see another young rider. I have a limiting rope in my basement but I haven't installed it for some reason lol. I probably should but I've never broken a handlepole or the mount and I've had weaker skis and poles in the past 2 years.

Pole limiting ropes are fairly easy to make.
Just get some sturdy enough rope and a couple of eye bolts.
Put one in the pole and one in the firewall. Be sure to use a large backing washer for each. Make the rope just the right length to not let the pole extend all the way.
Then run a small bungee strap from the pole bracket to the rope to pull it forward when slack.

A pole limiting strap is basically a surf riding mod for stand up skis. It is a strap running from your pole to your dash which prevents your pole from over extending, breaking or ripping out the mounts of your mounting bracket. If you are a flat water rider it’s usually not necessary. Several companies offer them pre-made but all I’ve seen are cheap and break easily. Most people make there own. I made mine from a 3/4'” nylon strap that I bought at a fabric store. After measuring to the correct length (Strap should stop pole extension just before it’s maxed out) I had the ends sewn into loops. On the pole I mounted it to a stainless loop bolted to the pole and on the dash I have another stainless loop. I use a stainless threaded link to connect the strap to the dash. I also run a small bungee from the center of the strap to the pole pivot bolt which helps keep the slack out of the strap when its not extended. My set up is bullet proof and everything, including the strap, stainless loops and links cost around $25

Its not just a surf mod, and please make sure you put some big backing behind the wall on your ski other wise it just pulls out and then you have a little mess on your hands....experience talking
