anybody use an alternative to the hydroturf padding? I have sheets of the turf, went to order the pad underneath and a sheet of that is 60 bucks, just hoping there is something cheaper, yikes.

I was told to go to Home Depot and look in the flooring section.

24" x 24" grey in color interlocking foam mats, they come 4 in a packet and were dirt cheap.

They are meant to be used in kids play areas but work great on skis.

$60? My 25mm pad was $15, i think the total with shipping was $23. Make sure they send the pieces for footholds when you order it.

Where was this post a month ago when I was doing my returf

you can also order half a sheet, just have to ask them to cut it...believe it was $30 plus shipping. They can cut it either 20x80 or 40x40. I had it cut 20x80 and it was plenty for 2 skis.

Little fustrated with hydro-turf right now. Ordered my padding the first of the month (by phone). The girl said she would email me if any of the prices were not what I thought or if anything was wrong. Never heard anything. Called today to check up since I still hadnt got anything in the mail and they had no record of the order. Needed that padding to finish up a square to hopefully take to FSF for my brother-in-law. Now theres really no point in finishing it until spring. All that rushing for waste. Still went ahead and ordered it again but just very fustrating to rush everything else and then nothing. I dont even think I got an appology, cant remember for sure though.

Jett, I asked about the 25mm pre-cut padding and they said $35 i think. Was a little irritated at that point so I wasnt listening the best. Just went ahead and only ordered a half sheet of the 8mm.

Wow sounds like my expierience. After I put post saying that in there feedback thread they pm'd me and said they were sorry and could they refund my shipping or send me some swag. I was like thats cool just send some swag. I didnt recieve that either:rolleyes: . But hey what do you, do there are not that many companies making turf. I did use the flooring pad from Harbour Freight on my build and its still kicking azz.

I, also, can't stand HT's pricing. I realize that they have been a strong supporter of our sport, but they seem to really be trying to monopolize.

I was really p'd when I asked for my 10% XH2O/PWCToday discount (from Laurel) on a solid Blaster mat kit (without the HT logo) and she (Hydroturf) refused because I wasn't going to have the HT logo exposed.

I also looked for alternatives. The best place I found was a foam company that makes mattress pads and yoga mats:

http://www.foamorder.com/closedcell.html

You can also get a Yoga mat from Walmart or the interlocking foam blocks from Home Depot.

Basically, you need to find closed-cell foam.

I actually agree with that, you just want mats, they just want recognition. No recognition = no discount to me.

i was just gonigm to order some HT today....so, do we have a hookup there now since Laurel is gone???

I believe Mike is the person fulfilling most of Laurel's responsibilities now.

The underpad you want and that HT uses is Minicell. It's made by Voltec and can be found at most foam suppliers and cut to any thickness desired.
