Looks great man! Definitely a lot of work... I know what it's like, haha.

Lets just hope RRP doesn't see this and ruin the fun! :deal:

first, i never signed a document when i purchased the hull saying i couldn't do this.

second, post #1, point #3, i made it very clear this for my OWN personal benefit and will NOT be selling hulls.

RRP has around $7000 out of me for the hull alone. it would be a different situation if i was copying there design and i had never paid them a cent - that's not cool.

but i do thank you for the compliments - it is a LOT of work!

This is nothing to worry about.
You bought the hull, you can do what you want with it.
You're not selling knockoffs or are otherwise making money off copying the design.

The real irony is if the original hull was of better quality then Roo would not being doing this. (Disclaimer, even Roo said that the quality of the newer units is much better than before.)

the first statement is partially true - one of my main focuses for doing this is i wanted something half the weight, but did NOT want to pay the price tag for it.

i rather put the man hours in and learn something in the process (i needed something to occupy my time this winter when not at work! heh)

RRP's new hulls are all badass and i know the quality of them has gone WAY up. i am STILL thinking of picking up an XFS down the road...

Awesome Roo!

thanks man.

broke the flange off the plug/model.

carefully drilled out the inserts where i had plugged them with bondo/filler so the hull could be used again.

because i had to cut the trim and 2 cool lines flush with the hull, i had no choice but to cut the try open (plus, i wanted to take a look inside anyway). again, installing new cooling lines so the hull will be usable.

for the last 2 seasons, i would have over a gallon of what drain from my tray where i drilled drain plugs... i found out why. the top deck is done in two parts. first, the top deck as created with normal sides. then, the sides are cut out in the tray, and foothold boxes installed / glassed in. below you can see where the break occurred on the left foothold.

opening up the try, while doing the new cooling lines, i can repair the foothold from the top and bottom. look closely at the tray bottom - you can see they use a core. looks like... soric maybe?

and to FINALLY settle the is the tray hollow or foamed on the RRP hulls... well both. they use blocks of foam packed in there.

tons of sanding on the top - just need to seal the tray back up, sand it and ready for primer.

While I was drilling the bildge fitting for my rickter, I thought you might find this interesting.... and snapped a pic. This is the side of the topdeck in the rear of the motor bay. I sealed the bare glass up with crazy glue prior to installing the bilge, pisser, and bilge pump switch. Unfortunately I did not have a regular hole saw, and used a speedbore bit which destroyed the sample cutout of the topdeck....so no ply burn disection. Thanks for the tray pics, the mystery of what was in the tray was bothering me...lol

reconsider this statement :fing02: :lmao:

there are a RETARDED amount of hours into this.

yeah! more like stupid retarded amount of work...even when you do it for a living!

you are much much better off buying an AM hull and then just put it together and go riding!

i agree - cost in the end is about the same or close... (not including labor if you were to pay a dollar amount on that)

however, it is a GREAT time killer for the winter months.
