The Rok is a nice hull and l think it would be a good fit.But you have a lot of skis in your area that you could ride and evaluate if they were right for you.A -0 or -2 SF with little or no rocker would work great, but then price point comes into play.Good luck

My vote goes for a ROK, great rec ski with the option of whatever. If you enjoy SXR or a Superjet, ROK fills the gap perfectly, great all around hull. Always wanted to try the ENVY, but never got the chance. Look for a glass ROK, they have come down in price drastically, sure you could find a great deal. And after you sell your SJ hull, you might be out just a few hondos.

I have a -4 Envy that will be up for sale soon, great hull but Im more of a freeride guy so I got a Predator.

Envy has kawi pump but will accept yami engine. I have a new to me 145 skat mag, new custom length shaft to run the setback mag with a 701. All is available from hull to RTR.

Will be attending Brigantine freeride and Daytona Freeride, don't know if it will be running for Brig, but I plan to bring it to Daytona and hope to not come home with it.

I rode a stock superjet for a little over 2 years. A lot. I'm a cheap ass and couldn't justify spending half the amunt of the ski on a pipe. So I just practiced instead.

I outgrew it after about a yr, but it was still a ton of fun and able to do pretty much everything the pumped superjets did, just not as big. The amount of skill required to do the same things was more. It was dead reliable also.

I went aftermarket because after riding for so long, I knew what I didn't want in a ski. Tray. Pole lacement. Width. Weight. Pump. That means aftermarket. I've rode a 10 sj, and a sxr. Built to the max, they are nothing like a stock aftermarket ski. Not even comparable.

If you like riding go aftermarket. You will be happier in the long run. If your already wanting something new, another sj or sxr is not gonna fulfill the need for long, and the price to go aftermarket is near the same.

I'm happy with my Superjet. I just don't think its wise to spend $1000-2000 on a Superjet hull when I can sell it for $1000 and spend $2000-$3000 on something better.

Bare hull with ride plate new turf $2500 obo
Hull with mag pump, new hooker 10/16, R&d intake grate, driveshaft, midshaft bearing $4000 obo

can do RTR with yami 701 and a b pipe, not sure on price, if you are that serious you can PM me and we can work something out.

I have not advertised it yet, just finishing up the Predator build and was going to get back into this in a couple weeks

Exactly. At the rate of aftermarket hulls being built, it seems to me that most hulls are getting cheaper by the minute. Ive seen a few Roks sell for fairly cheap. IMO ride the hulls you think YOU would like and put your 2k towards that.

Didnt Addicts blue Rok sell for only like $2500 a year ago..?

Also, look into a rickter fs1 or fs2. Ill be posting an fs1 hull up in a few days!

have you considered an aquabot?

i started with the same ski you did. 2004 superjet modified my tray and loved it. rode it for a couple of seasons and decided it was time to upgrade.

You wouldnt think it being a shorter hull , but the bot is a great all around ski. flat water, surf, just a great all around ski. everyone i know that has ridden one has enjoyed it.

No, I haven't considered anything that can't hang with my wife's sxr. She's already pulling on my Superjet no problem, and with some add'l tuning and some practice...

I've been talking about spending $500 on my tray so I sent my wife info on the Envy and a link to this thread...

She had this to contribute...

Have you tried a Rickter FS (not XF)? Its a really good surf hull, and you can hold them WFO on flat. I usually do alot of boat wake chasing and its a really good all around hull. Although it can, its not a purpose built FW backflip hull by any means. And the tray is huge, coming from an X2 you'd def like it.

I have not ridden any of the am hulls but I was going to try this Daytona (never did before because I wasn't in the market but I am outgrowing my Superjet). You have a rickter and @yamaslut has a superfreak so I was hoping to try those soon. Also met Jason stoyer and pat bogart, I'm sure they would let me try a kdx, but I know that's not the right hull style for me.

I like everything better than the x2 btw. I just like spending money, time and effort endlessly to accomplish nothing.

Nothing against Xmetal, but the KDX is not for me. Not interested in anything that short. The -3 envy on WDKs website looks very nice.

That is my hull....Yamaha power/pump/electrics. I don't have the words to describe my love of this hull.

The rok is literally the perfect do it all ski, I can hold it pinned for ages as long as you have your weight right it doesnt porpoise at all, It gets huge air off wakes, and you can still kinda carve on it, and it breaks loose when you want it to.

That's what everybody says about their hull though, myself included. Almost every single person that read this thread, (other than perhaps people with purpose built hulls), has said the exact same thing about their current hull. There's no way around it, you gotta ride them for yourself and see what fits best. There's a learning curve with every hull but one will just feel like it was designed specifically for you.

And test ride more than one of every model if possible. We have 3 Matrix's in our group now and each one rides entirely different.

You bring up a great point, hard to make an honest comparison when everyone sets machines up different. I rode a few aftermarket hulls before I bought mine, but had not ridden a rok before I bought mine. Each one has felt vastly different even though the hull designs did not differ much. I got lucky and liked how mine rode.

I tried a few before I bought mine and got lucky as well. My Matrix suits me perfectly, it should, I tailored it just for me. :)

I reserve my opinion but I will offer my ski up for anyone to try out and form their own opinion.
