We stayed further in and to the right and had no issues. Surf was just as big and there was more room to roam without conflict. I was shaking my head every time I looked over and saw Jim going big right in the middle of it all. Thankfully most of them cleared out early and the later sessions were close to surfer free.

I liked how the popo took the time out to come and let us know that there were some complaints about us and then didn't want to hear any of our complaints about them. Apparently whomever complains first is right?.?.?.

No, it's whoever complains about the jetskis is right. Police are pretty hardcore with the profiling when it comes to jetskis, because good number of couchers are irresponsible and reckless - all jetski riders are.

This was first real interaction with surfers.... ( insert a little empathy here ) . I do realize it is their passion as well as ours but some form of mediation is in order. Our sets are 45 minutes or so on the break then a break fuel rest etc. it would seem we could work out something ..... I do realize surfers don't get along with kite borders, kayaks, paddle boarders, fishermen or other surfers for that matter. The question is can there be some sort of "civil" mediation that can take place so that all of our needs can be met.... Maybe I'm a hopeless optimist thinking people prefer peace over conflict .

I will say that when I'm surfing the last thing I want in the lineup is someone on ski, and a close second is someone on an SUP. But then again I don't surf anywhere that skis would be, and if I did I wouldn't try to force them out. And honestly there are so few spots you can actually ride a ski in the surf, you would think the surfers could find a different spot.

It's in the middle of the inlet ..... They come by boat , it's to far for them to paddle out. There is a surf zone for them to use ..... It's called " The WHOLE eastern sea board " .

Pretty optimistic idea right there. Some surfers don't even like to share their water with other surfers so I doubt there's any hope of them letting us in on the action.

Of the guys who also surf on this forum, how many altercations have you had or witnessed while riding with fellow surfers? I'll bet it's no different, and possibly even worse.

Thankfully we rarely have to deal with it at Jax.

I know I'm in the minority of surfers with my share the water mentality (Not that I havent forced my share of d-bags to find a different spot). Surfing is probably the most possesive sport there is, the majority of surfers think the waves belong to them where ever they choose to surf. But stuff like this where the break isn't a normal surf spot that that mentality gets pretty rediculous.

I thankfully havent had to deal with any issues with surfers when I'm out on the ski, but thats really beacuse i choose to ski where the surfers aren't and when its really good (like this weekend) I'm usually surfing and not skiing, and I've never seen a ski at any of my normal surf spots (excluding sebastian, but I never surf monster hole or southside and skis aren't alowed northside)

it's definitely whoever complains about jetskiers is right, regardless of complaint order.

in my experience, surfers are impossible to reason with. i dont think surfing and skiing would build any bridges cause they cant even get along with themselves. most sat. were pretty cool when i would idle up to them and explain i had only 600' to ride in, but they still wouldnt paddle out of the zone. one guy said he really didnt care if it was the jet ski zone cause he lived right there and always surfs in front of his house. it wasnt till the beach patrol put their ski in that anyone moved so the last half of my session was pretty fun.

600 feet versus the rest of coastal volusia county. come on!

next time we just start off the day with a complaint to the cops....we were at the gas station and were threatened by some surfers....

thought techinally they are not supposed to surf in the inlet, its navigable and there is no swimming in the inlet where the boats traverse

I used to surf when I was in highschool, Pismo beach peir in Ca. It was hard enough to not get in altercations just being another surfer. It was like walking on broken glass around those guys. Seen alot of fist fights over stupid stuff. I couldnt imagine trying to ride a ski where they were surfing or visa versa. Luckily I dont see nearly as many surfers in NJ.

I've surfed all over the world and have only been in two real fights one on Guam and the other in Hawaii. Both were surfing related. I pretty much quit surfing due to their sh%$ty attitude. Plus since I had heart surgery it is hard for me to lay down on a flat hard surface and not hurt badly. Lately if a surfer approaches me I explain I can't really surf anymore and I"m just trying to enjoy the waves. They back off then. Plus I guess I'm technically "handicapped", and I'm sure there would be major legal issues if they started fist fighting me.

Does anyone have pictures from this weekend? I didn't get to go out riding.
