Hurricane questions

Hey guys
im new on here, actually my first post, and i have a quick question
I am looking at buying a fiberglass Hurricane, but have a few questions first. I ride on Lake St. Clair so if any of you know it can get pretty rough there. Now usually i meet up with a few of my friends then we go and jump boat wakes. I know the hurricane would be awesome for jumping but my concern is when im cruising out to go jump. I know the hull would not be perfect for this, but i need to know that its not horrible for cruising. so my questions are how does it compare to a superjet as far as control and turning and what is a resonable top speed you could get on a hurricane

from riding a hurricane for a few minutes this summer it cruised really well. and rode nice. From experience, i used to ride out of algonac a lot and my 750sx was awesome on big cruiser wakes. but the one time i did the ride from just north of the boardwalk to muskemoot down the channel far side of harrsens on a busy saturday.... it was a nightmare even on my 750. i would never attempt that ride on a busy saturday on a stunt hull. however if u have a channel or house to rie off of man u will have an amazing summer out there. One recomendation i would make knowing how the waters is would be to buy a surf layup. the heavier duty one. some of those cruiser wakes are no joke!

well good luck and have fun man. hit me up if you ever want to ride im only like half hour away.

Buy a Hurricane! You will get huge air! Turns and carves awesome. You won't keep up with super jets in big choppy water it's a shorter hull. I have ridden many hulls and for michigan riding it's great. If your looking for a deal on a used one there is one in Canada and I would entertain an offer on my carbon pro series hull.

I'd listen to advice from SpaceCowboy and other people that own them. Not joe smo that rode one once for a second, you will get those guys a lot on the X. I could give you my opinion from riding Spacecowboys, but I didn't try to cruise on it nor was I riding in choppy water, so I wont pretend to give the hull a review for those situations. For the purpose I rode the hull (flat water flips), I loved it and would buy one in a second.

For your question though, the weight of the glass hull will help for cursing more so than a full out carbon comp hull

My Cabin on the lake is 7 miles from the beach/ride spot. I ride all the way there, chase boats and flop around once i get there for the day, and ride 7 miles back.. and i do it all quite comfortably on my fiberglass Hurricane. I don't think you would regret your purchase.

I won't lie though, sometimes i get lazy and throw it on the pontoon and haul it there and back lol.

@Philip Clemmons ,@mindless and myself will chase a ferry occasionally. I don't chase boats as often as I used to, but a hurricane can do it. Don't get lazy though. I always keep very active when I'm going fast and pay attention to the waves and how I have to adjust my weight. It's not as stable at speeds as a superjet. If you don't mind the bit of extra work to keep the ski up to speed and staying aware of the water conditions and the motion of the ocean, you'll be fine.

Video will be up in an hour. Found a random video of me going fairly fast on a hurricane while chasing a boat.

contact ski clinic hurricane, ind talk to SR,JR, ELI for more info , or other riders here , NVJAY775 , my Wife kellyhieke.com etc I am sure you wont regret a purchase ......;0)

If you ride lake st clair, you need to hook up with the guys at crazy joes customs and ride their hull. I have rode lake st. clair since the age of 8, for the past 20 years. Crazy joe has been riding lng before me, and he's got a perfect hull setup for out lake. I have raced for 10+ years and rode every hull put there. Set up a visit with them, ride their ski and have a blast. It rails. It flips. It's perfect for our lake. PM me and I'll take you there for a visit.
