i messed mine up a bit, but its not a build off ski i plan to ride till i wear it out or it falls off, but superglue helps on the stubburn edges
I'd still go back to whomever sold you them and raise the issue..... that looks like arse... which isn't a big deal in the long run, but at least you could get a free sheet or new sides to redo at a later time.
I used pre-cut and it worked great but with the pre-cut there is about two inches of turf hanging off the back. How do you do the rivets? Do you tuck the turf back under the ski and then have to put the rivets through two layers?
THanks in advance
If you're having to tape things down, you didn't wait for the glue to dry.
It has to be dry before you put the turf down.
But I feel your pain. I've done both, and like cutting my own much better.
The verdict is in.
It looks like ass....
haha...You're not the first or the last to post in an old thread. No worries.my bad, found this doing a search and just saw the 6-1 blah blah. Found the pics of the wamiltons install, I guess this is a good one?
I just ordered custom footholds from tom21 and will be doing my first turf ever in a a few weeks, and man you guys have me scared to death! I saw a post recently with the pics of dowels down, but it also looked like it had paper down at some point. Not sure I understood how you put paper down and it not stick? Do things only stick if you have the glue on both parts? If this is so can you use anything as spacers, or will dowels do fine? Another question is how to finish the top outer section of the rails. Do you glue to the edge of rail, glue past that point on the mat and stick it down then trim? I was kind of surprised not to find a detailed step by step pic by pic of the process. Does any know of one? Any help would be appreciated greatly!
I have seen a lot of skis in my lifetime & I have yet to see one without seams in the corner. I'm not going to say it can't be done, but I think it would be nearly impossible to get it to lay down & form around the corner, even with heating it up.thanks moondance, that's one sweet turf job! Excellent in the foothold with no cuts. Seeing how your a professional, have you ever seen the top back corner done without cuts? Can it be done?
