I found a FX1 for sale

I found a 94 FX1 for sale that hasnt been in the water for 10 years. I have known the owner since he bought it new. The ski has been stored outside without a cover. I went to look at it and water had leaked in and filled the engine compartment. I'm not sure how many years it has been freezing and unfreezing with water in the engine compartment. The bilge pump worked when I put a battery in it! The ski wouldn't start, it just clicked, not sure if the starter engaged? The motor was winterized the last time it was used. What kind of damage could be wrong with it, is the ski still worth buying? If so how much is it worth???
It has a few mods and a true FX1 factory B pipe. I had an FX1 I sold six years ago and have wanted another one since I sold mine.

complete running in your area they go for $2500-3500

short block will run you $400 if you end up needing to replace anything.

Those B-pipes go for top dollar

Water in engine compartment, I didn't see any water in the cylinders when I removed the plugs. Any chance the years of freezing ruined the electronics or engine?

That is a lot of water in there! Everything should be sealed and fine. Only issue is if water made its way into the carb/engine. If you buy it pull the engine out and clean off the terminals on the starter. How much does he want for it?

It's in that price range, as is. But my concern is damage due to all the freezing here in MI. is it worth $3000 as is?

Not worth 3,000 as is. i would be concerned about the freezing and unfreezing as well. I know Michigan winters and they suck. My guess is there is water inside of the motor too

If it's not worth $3k, anyone have anything similar they want to sell anywhere near SE Michigan? I really want a FX1, wish I hadn't sold mine.
I've ridden a Kaw 650, don't like them at all.
I've had a few 550's but wouldn't want another unless it was a 750 swap.
Never ridden a Superjet, but I hear they are the best? Not sure which is better, square or round nose?
My budget probably restricts a SXR.
Never ridden a Kaw 750, I heard only the SXi Pro is worth buying?

Any advice or leads are welcome.
I have 2 sit downs and want to get back on a stand up.

Thanks!!!

I would look around at other places outside Michigan if you really want an Fx1. I've seen really clean ones out west and east coast on various Facebook groups and this forum for under 3k. You can always have it shipped to you

i would like to know how that guy came to the conclusion that his water filled, sun baked, non running ski is worth 3k. I would seriously be blown away if he got 2k for it in that sorry condition. Kinda pisses me off that he let it rot. I would be more tempted to make an offer on this bone stock one than his even if it does have the pipe. It's in Colorado but it could be shipped.

Two years ago I picked this fx1 up for 550 bucks and it was pretty haggard as well but at least it ran. Here is my build thread so you can see what it looked like when I bought it.

He's pretty firm on the price. He said he would make sure it starts. No other guarantees. Maybe I should see if it runs and test ride it, if it ever warms up, expected 2-4" of snow today
I'm predicting right now it sits for another ten years before he finds someone crazy enough to spend that kind of cash on that ski. What a joke. This belongs in the WTF thread.

I saw your thread, impressive build!
He said that Factory FX1 B-pipe is worth $700-$900 alone?
