I'm tickled pink. I just got my form 1 back through the atf's efile system. Filed on November 13 and received approval December 16. Today. Wait times are way down so if any one is putting it off , don't. Cant wait. By the way it's going to be a .308 can going on a 300 blackout. I have really immersed my self I. All this atf stuff so if anyone has any questions about how to own a legal silencer hit me up. I will help if I can.

Brutal comparison. I understand the fun of aspect of shooting and owning guns, but the silencer aspect seems crazy and pointless for the general public

It's more of a show and tell item right now. But if there is a civil war or something similar they are a nice feature in someone's arsenal.

They won't actually make the gun silent contrary to what Hollywood wants you to believe. It only makes them a little quieter. You will still need hearing protection as well. It is like adding a muffler to a car. Makes shooting much more enjoyable and allows people more sensitive to the muzzle blast and sound to shoot. Also shooting ranges near populated areas would not be as loud.

No class 3.
The form you use to manufacture and register a nfa wepon is a form 1. The tax stamp cost 200$. Depending on the sheriff in your area, you may be able to own it as an individual, he has to sign off on it. Mine is in a trust because I want to leave them to my successors.

Ideal for home defense or hunting when you don't want to wear big muffs.

I think it is insane that if you operate your car, mower, boat or ski without a muffler you will get a ticket,
but putting a muffler on your gun requires federal paperwork, $200, background check, etc.
