Freestyle I have met my match = xscream [emoji853][emoji379]

Has anyone else’s ever has a ski that the just couldn’t tune to save their life? This XS1000 is going to send me to the nut house.

carb tuning issue? prop?

It’s an XS1000 that has the hit of a built 701. No one has base jetting specs because apparently no on runs NOVI carbs on these things. I’m either too rich or too lean or Carbon fouled. I have tried specs from xscream, Novi and some from a 1000 DASA I had and all are just shooting from the hip. Apparently those motors were not designed to run novi carbs so no actual specs available.

So I have a buddy who fought carb tuning for months and turned out to have two issues. Crank seal leak and melted orings on head. Threw off all his jetting changes and ran like poope till these two items were resolved. Might try a leakdown test on the motor to make sure its a carb issue and not something deeper.

I'm no rocket surgeon but...

The carbs don't know what motor they're bolted to...so I don't buy that "motor A does not like carburetor B"

Go back to the basics. Have you pressure checked the motor? Verified timing with a timing light? Tried a different CDI? I'm not familiar with that motor, but that compression seems low, even for pump gas. Is that 160psi with the powervalves held open or closed? How wet are you running the pipe? TNT's are very sensitive to changes at the spraybar.

Hopefully it's something simple that's just been overlooked. Good luck!!

x2 what @Kaylee.S said. Could you post a video of it riding it?
Now i might get burned, but keep in mind, all these high dollar Mikuni body carbs are just Mikuni SBN 46 bodys, with diffrent bore and booster/bomb sight. Internals are still the same. So like Kaylee im not buying that "these carbs will not work on that setup"
My buddy has a carbon circusfreak with xs1000, rrp pipe, riva powerbom 48, msd TL and 155 pump (donno pitch) but it wroks no doubt.
He is running reverse jetting, i think he likes the hit of that. i will try and get the specs
What are you "Best jetting specs" @bach6177

I’m not sure on the compression if the valve was open or closed. A buddy tested it. I have swapped out the CDI and have not leak tested the motor. It have very low hours and the pump gas domes were just installed. Here are the specs NOVI sent me. They based them off the TL and race gas specs xscream had.

Do single check valves, 2.3 / 95 spring, 80 or 90 return jet. Good with mains at 130 and lows at 135 to start. All screws at 1.5 out to start.

what they said....and I run my Novi 48's on both my DASA 900 and TPE 1100....similar setup to you....definately reverse jetted is best big motor and this carb combo...can go a tad higher on the pilots, but use the 115 g spring to get the pop-off as high as possible....22-24 PSI (reduces dribbling as well) 90 on the return jet to reduce pressure inside carb internals and double check that your N/ S are popping off reliably.
check both carbs for any fuel dumping at idle and just above

The top end feels real messy and now power.

Here are some jetting specs I previously tried. They are close to the mentioned above.
